Here's the definition of a synonym for "smarmy" that I think best describes what he was trying to say:

The adjective unctuous has one meaning:
Meaning #1: unpleasantly and excessively suave or ingratiating in manner or speech

Thanks for the definition Elle, I still never heard that word lol!

I'm so happy he's staying on. I need to see him perform!

Christina, I knowww... the show never drags for a second, plus it's really fast-paced in the beginning [the early years], so it seems short by the time it's over.

Oh, and JLY is not unctuous! I thought his post was really funny. It was a whole lot more interesting than just saying, "I'm extending."

You guys call call me Kai, btw.

I agree, Kai. I don't think John was being "smarmy" at all in his blog entry...just tyring to add some humor instead of being boring. Ah well, I guess it doesn't matter all that much the way that it was announced, it's what was actually said that matters, right? Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread

And I'm sorry guys, I know that this is a threadjack, but I just wanted to say that I saw High Fidelity in Boston over the weekend and loved it! Sure, there are some changes that need to be made before it moves to NYC, but I think it'll be great. Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread Definetely check it out if you have the opportunity. The entire cast is amazing, and I've fallen in love with Will Chase especially.

Haha sorry, just wanted to post (I remember Meryl posting some pictures with a few of the History Boys a while back so I figured why not? heh.) So attractive, that man, and so sweet and gracious as well. Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread Sorry again about the threadjack guys, have a great week!

ICAM. I loved his post, not only for just what he said (yay!), but also because he found a refreshing way to convey the information. It made me laugh, and that kid is so cute!

Rachel, that pic of you and Will Chase is fantastic! I am looking forward to High Fidelity. :) And he has pretty eyes LOL.

Oh, btw Judy - I totally loved Wicked!...I havent really experienced a West End show with that much audience excitement.

Aw, Victoria, I'm glad you enjoyed Wicked and Idina. She's one of my favorites. I watched the BWW video with the London cast; everyone seemed lovely. And the actress playing Morrible did mention that she's never seen British audiences react so strongly....

Loved it, but it made me miss JB even more if that makes sense...

I can see parallels with JB in that Idina is an original cast member and playing a demanding role in a show that makes the audience go wild.

JB is an incredible show that works on every level, so I hope that it would translate just as well with UK audiences. It deserves a crazy reaction from fans just as Wicked has generated!

I went in not really knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Idina was fabulous - and I can now see what all the fuss is about. She was stunning - even in green. It's been slated by the press here ( no great shock there) but the crowd were going totally wild for it! I havent really experienced a West End show with that much audience excitement.

It's great that you had a wonderful time! I had heard that it got a lot of bad reviews, but I guess it's the audience's opinion that really counts.

Your picture with Will is great, Rachel. I'm looking forward to High Fidelity coming to New York.

Rachel, that is neat you met him! I met him too a couple of years ago when he was in Aida! He was great!

Just wanted to give you girls heads up I won't be online tonight. I'm at work right now actually. (my boss isn't here today lol, I'm bored and tired at work)Right after work me, my Dad, and my sister are going to the viewing tonight in NY. I really miss him. Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread My Mom is staying home with Major (my dog he is 5 months old) tonight. Both of my parents are going to the funeral on Thursday in NY. I'm taking off of work on Thursday to stay with Major (at this puppy age it would be a long time for him to be by himself, someone should stay with him) My sister teaches so she couldn't take off.

Talk to you girls later.

Hi Lori--we'll miss you. I Hope that everyone, including Major :) , gets through the next few days nicely.

Oh, I wish I could have seen Will Chase in AIDA. I've only seen a high school production of that show. It was a good time, but I'd love to see a professional group of actors on tour as well.

On the subject of students (how's that for a segue?), I love the latest story on the JB Blog about Hal Prince. At a conference he said that JB was not only one of the most entertaining shows but also highly instructive for young actors and those interested in writing for theatre.

JERSEY BOYS has that wonderful mix of appealing to broad audiences while also having artistic merit. :)

Thanks for the picture comments everyone! I love Will Chase Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread

Meryl, I really loved the show. Some tweaking does need to be done in some areas, but I really think that it has great potential. I wrote a really long review in a thread on the main board (https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?page=2&thread=912043&startthread=2525941&boardname=bway) if you want to check it out. It's probably not very good cause I never really write reviews, but I did anyway. Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread

Erin, High Fidelity is playing at the Colonial Theater (right across from the common on Boylston) until the 22nd of this month...definetely check it out if you can!

Lori, good luck with the next few days. I know how hard it is to lose someone. Stay strong. Official John Lloyd Young Love Thread

I'd imagine that Fallen Angel would be the runaway choice for "tearjerker" moment. It's just so emotional.

As for my favorite part of the show--god, that's hard, LOL. If I answered the same question two days from now I might give a different response. For musical moments I'll say Sherry/Big Girls Don't Cry/Walk Like a Man; for nonmusical moments, the Mary/Frankie date scene (V-A-L-L-I--you've gotta end in a vowel....)

alejandra I agree with you!my favorite parts change all the time.I love the Frankie and Mary scence,I like the "your wearing a very unusual fragerence, whats it called?""soap"part

Hey Christina--Yes! I loved the "soap" line. And "I'm gonna be bigger than Sinatra."

"Only if you stood on a chair."

The part you quote in your sig is also fantastic. As much as I love the Frankie/Bob friendship, I also like the Bob/Tommy conflict.

JB is one show in which I honestly enjoy every bit of it.

*bumping the thread with some cool news*

JLY is among those scheduled to perform in Broadway Unplugged in November.

I love the lineup--Sutton and Sarah Uriarte Berry are two other favorites of mine.

Has anyone heard from Tennessee Twang?

ragdoll4390, every show has "house seats" they hold, whether it be for family and friends of cast members, producers, or celebrities. If they're not sold, they sell them in the cancellation line.

Hey everyone! Has anyone ever bought a Seth's Bway Chatterbox DVD? I was thinking of buying one of the DVDs with JB castmembers in it and just want to know if the quality of the video is any good.
