Is that official? Yay if it is!
New Philosophy Girl and her 2 friends and I got tix to see yesterday's DRS matinee. 30 minutes b/f curtain, we see "the role usually played by NORBERT LEO BUTZ will be played by JOE CASSIDY". We went to the B.O. window and they told us to go back to TKTS. I raised heck over there. I was like "You didn't tell us that Norbert was out! I want a refund gosh darnit!" The guys were telling us that there are no refunds but after a bit of fighting they were going to give us a refund b/c Naked Girl had sold out but then we decided on Trailer Park. I love DRS but I can't see it without Norbert.
DRS was supposed to perform at Broadway on Broadway today but they didn't. Grrrrr! I knew that Norbert probably wouldn't perform anyway but I would've loved Sherie to sing "here i am".
Fight the power, BB!
I don't blame you though. I can honestly say that I wouldn't have as much interest in DRS if Norbert wasn't it.
DRS is a great show but I wouldn't keep going back if Norbert wasn't in it. Well, unless it's Stokes and Hunter. Norb and Stokes would work, too!
Stokes and Norb would just be unfair.
What about Stokes and Dan Fogler?
Stokes and Norbert would make my life complete lol. Ugh, Dan Fogler. He robbed Matt and his head is HUGE.
BB, leave the Dan alone!
Norbs with BSM would just be fantasmagorphic!
Patronus- OMG! Not that Matt could play Freddy but just the thought of Stokes and Matt, well, I need a moment to compose myself lol. Norbert and Matt. *drools* I know it's a bit of a stretch but can anyone see Norbert as Bialystock and Matt as Bloom in The Producers? Or what about Matt as the Leonardo Dicaprio role and Norbert in the Tom Hanks role in Catch Me If You Can the musical. Matt and Norbert and/or Stokes and/or Denis O'Hare would be effin' mind-boggling!
I have two versions of Norbert singing OSG. Although neither is crystal clear quality, they aren't bad. :) He sounds *wonderful*.
I got my L5Y liner notes signed by Sherie and Norbert in the mail two weeks ago. :) Sorry it took so long to share that info but I haven't been around much. I was thrilled! I sent a letter and my L5Y booklet to Sherie in late April/May and was worried I may never see it again.
Dan Fogler and Sara Ramirez robbed Matt and Kelli. Grrrr. DRS wouldn't appeal to me that much if not for Norbert and Sherie, so it will be sad to see the OBC dissolve eventually.
A.
Hi-Turned on my radio this evening and heard, "Hello, this is John Lithgow. And Norbert Leo Butz.." Cute new add for the show with Norbs saying "You know, I won the Tony" and John retorting "How long are we going to hear about THAT?"..with Norbs replying "AWHILE". Very funny stuff for those of us starved for anything new on this show..
Yeah, I have quite a few 'clips' of Norbert as Roger. It's amazing.
My favorite in the role by far and I've seen probably 10-15 actors do it.
Wendy- Haha, I love it! Haven't heard it yet tho. Gives me a reason to listen to the radio.
P*Dog- I've seen 2 or 3 different Rogers and haven't seen Norbert but he's my favorite anyway. hehehe
That's very cool, Alejandra! I love happy, out-of-the-blue Broadway mail! And from your fave person!
I'm still mad about Dan and Sara robbing Matt and Kelli. Love Sara but Kelli deserved it and it just makes no sense how Dan beat out Matt. I know alot of you guys love Matt, too, so I'll just tell you in case you want to join in. Mistress is planning a Matt-lovers trip to see NAKED GIRL. Right now, it's on the Nov.19th Sat matinee. If there are enough of us then we can get a student discount. She said to visit his message board. Hope to see some of you there!
I saw Naked Girl Friday night and I must say Matt was GREAT in it, I didn't realize he had that kind of comedic chops.
Patronus, stop talking about Norbert as Roger. I didn't see it and the pain of having missed such a thing is unbearable. Are you still seeing the show on the 20th of November, or did something come up?
The new add for DRS sounds great. Does anyone know if Norbert is out this week? My friend and I wanted to lotto the Wednesday matinee, but I don't want his first time to be sans Norbert!
Yeah, I am still on for Nov 20th evening to do Rent via SRO/Lotto.
Are you guys still planning on coming to see it with us? If so, my wife and I could probably go over early and get the SRO tickets that morning for all four of us and we can meet out front around lotto time. I have See What I Wanna See tickets for the matinee, so I am hoping we can make it over in time.
BTW, Norbert as Roger, Mark, Steve and Gordon were all fantastic experiences.
We are in to see the show! SRO tickets would propably be good, I didn't know that RENT did SRO though. Meeting out front near lotto time will work, and if you aren't there yet, then at least we can have our names in the bucket.
I got all confused by the tickets you said you are selling on the other thread, when is the DRS ticket you are selling?
All I have to say to Norbert as Mark, etc is... :-P
Yeah, Rent sells SRO for every performance for $20 or $25 and it used to be regardless if the show was sold out or not. I suppose I should call the box office and clarify.
The DRS tickets that I am selling are for the Nov 20th matinee.
I purchased those originally when I first started planning my trip.
When the lotto policy changed and they started putting people up in the boxes and made front row available, I bought front row center for the Saturday night show after realizing that I wouldn't have too much trouble unloading tickets for a show the weekend before Thanksgiving (thanks again broadwaybetty.) So in short, I bought a second set of seats to move up 2 rows and over about 25-30 feet. Of course...it did mean that I get to see the closing performance of "See What I Wanna See".
The "Wicked" tickets I bought early on too and after seeing it here in CA, I don't really have any desire to see it again.

The front row at DRS is such a fabulous place to be, I miss the front row so much. It all makes much more sense now. I understand not needing to see Wicked again. I enjoyed it, I certainly don't hate it like some on here, but it is not worth seeing multiple times.
I'm seeing DRS at least two more times before you get here though, and hell I might even drop in and try to get a box.
I haven't seen anyone standing at RENT (of course I haven't looked for them) but you know more about it than I do.
I know they used to do it back in the early days, but they were selling out back then.
I'll try and call the box office one day this week.
Oh...the reason I know they used to do it? I myself saw Norbert's Roger from SRO on 3 different occasions.
Of course I also saw it from the front row.
*Throws DRS playbill at Patronus*
It seems like they should still sell SRO, but you never know, so many shows only have SRO if they are sold out. It seems easy to find out, but I'm feeling to lazy to try at the moment.
Yeah, I am feeling too lazy to do it myself too.
Of course if you really wanted to make me happy you could throw a "One Man Star Wars Trilogy" playbill my way.

Never.
haha HA
*looks at framed OMSWT playbill*
*looks at other OMSWT playbill*
*puts in secret stash*
**Looks out side at a beautiful sunny day, palm trees and thinks of going to the beach**
*looks outside*
*sees nothing but enormous church*
*where the Dali Lama is speaking tomorrow evening*
*looks at signed playbill from today's flea market*
*sees tonights benefit tickets*
*sees that the day is really pretty here for once*
*likes the trade off*
Although going to the beach would be nice, of course I'm probably better off around less Bikini clad women.
Yeah, I didn't buy the trade off either.
If it were even remotely practical, I'd move to NYC in a second.
Ah, did you get me anything fun at the flea market today?
I understand they had some signed windowcards for $40? That's amazing! I wish I had known - I'd have sent someone a check for about $200.
Are you watching the Braves game?
