re: oh, the hypocricy

"I delete PMs from Republicans without reading them."

Now that is a statement I don't agree with either. Are you afraid they are going to convert you? The better you understand where an opponent is coming from the better able you are to argue against their beliefs or who knows! You may even find some common ground. It's the lack of communication between people of different political parties that are helping to lead to the problems we are beginning to face. This country is becoming more and more polarized and in my humble opinion is leading us down a road we do not want to go.

re: oh, the hypocricy

I delete them because they usually just contain ignorant, nasty, mean-spirited insults, and I have better things to do with my time. If I thought they were coming from someone with half a brain who might actually have something semi-intelligent to contribute, then I'd be only too happy to read them. But someone who proudly states that amoung their goals in life is to...

1)Spit in Hillary Clinton's face
2)Spit in John Kerry's face
3)Tell Ted Kennedy to give my regards to his brothers, his father, and his mother when he sees them in Hell, then spit in his face.

...is not someone who's opinion I care to consider or who deserves to be taken seriously.

Well that poster does not represent all Republicans. You need to be careful about making blanket judgements about any group.

Had I said that I delete PM's from "idiots" without reading them, I would have been accused of name-calling. I try not to make blanket judgements or assumptions about any one group or person. But what I just don't get is how at this stage in the game someone can still be "on the fence" or undecided as to which candidate they are going to vote for. The Democratic and Republican platforms couldn't be further apart. The parties themsleves are so polarized. I just don't understand how someone could still not know who's opinions, views, and vision they agree with more. I'm beginning to agree with the statement that anyone who's still undecided at this point just likes the attention.

Or they have a mixture of both party's beliefs. People can be anti-war and pro-life. Or financial conservatives who care about the environment. You get the idea.

re: oh, the hypocricy

Yes Plum... I understand what you're saying. And I agree with you there. But if you have both liberal and conservative views wouldn't you rather back the party that is more tolerant of differing beliefs, values, and lifestyles, as opposed to one that promotes division and tries to get everyone to conform to one way (their way) of thinking? For instance... And I realize that this is an explosive topic... but take the Right to Life vs. Right to Choose issue. The liberal view is... I'm not telling anyone what to do with their body and I don't want anyone telling me what to do with mine. The conservative view is... abortion is wrong... for everyone. I don't believe in it for myself, therefore no one should be permitted the option. Do you see the difference? In almost every instance, the conservative view is the more constricting and imposing. Well anyway... that's how I see it. But IMO the bottom line as to who you should vote for in November is... if you're happy with the way things are going, and with the direction the country is headed, then vote for Bush. Because by voting for Bush that's exactly what you're going to get. Four more years of more of the same. But if you think that we as a country and a people can do better, then vote for Kerry.

Rodney...

Do you ever want to spit in George's face for cutting military benefits while sending people off to war? Just wondering.

I take great offense to that. My dad died on 9/11 and I have several family members serving in the armed forces at this time, both in Iraq as well as Afghanistan. So many people I know live changed lives because September 11th made them realize how precious life in our country is, and how much this country means to them. Sure, some people have probably gone back to their self-absorbed ignorant lives, but those that I know show their patriotism in all of their actions. That's all I can bring myself to say at the moment.

Don't bother, eponine. Rodney exists to provoke; his counterargument will probably be some like, "You're a poopyhead."

RodneyK... Why don't you try to offer a half-way intelligent and coherent argument to support your position? Because you can't. Can you? You don't have the knowledge or the intellect required to do so. Tell the truth... you're really 12-years old, aren't you?

Actually, that's an insult to 12-year olds. I know first-graders who can articulate themselves better. You're a sad joke.
