So i'm doing set crew for our JH musical this year, and its will wonka. Today our charlie got suspended, so the director was like, you are going to do charlie.
wtf? first of all, i'm a girl, second, i've read the script once so far. and i have to be "Charlie" tomorrow two times, because we give the elementary kids a show, and 3rd i'm a sophomore.
wow. this should be interesting. wish me luck =/
I have to ask...what did he get suspended for?
And...Willy Wonka the musical?!?!?! What is the music like??
*luck!*
You my friend are a champ.
Break a leg!!
Let us know how it goes.
lmao. the music is actually decent for a JH show. think of school house rock meet willy wonka.
he got suspended because this d-bag of a kid hit him, and he fought back. LUCKILY, it's only for a day.
but yeah. the music is easy to learn.
meh. i should be learning it now. stupid kids and their stupid fights.
ruining my ritual of BWW boards all night.

GOOD LUCK.
For realsies. You're a badass for agreeing to do it!!
haha. thanks.
mer. but yeah. no one else could. like seriously, the assistant director GUY was like "nope. i'm not even going to sing at rehersal cause i'm a looser."
actually, i added the dialogue there. but he is a looser.
i'm like a foot taller then all of the kids in the cast. haha.
thanks for the link!!!
no problem.
How'd it go?
for the most part, not a complete disaster.
but the scene where charlie finds the ticket went down the tube real quick.
one of these moments

only worse. if thats possible.
Well, you can't win em all. . .At least most of it went well. . .is there another showing then?
pssh. not that i'm doing. the kid came back from his suspension. and he learned his lines while he was gone. (he was on book 2 days before the show. yikes)
and the kids are doing as well as JH kids can do.
actually, my grade and the freshmen this year were kick butt when we did School house Rock Live! jr 2 years ago..
Well, that's good to hear. . .yeah, last year our HS cast took forever to get off books (we did Oliver. . .it was alright =/) but this year we did Les Mis and scared the underclassmen into getting it right. . .our Marius still constantly screwed up lines the whole way through though. . .
lol. in my high school, we always manage to pull EVERYTHING together the last week. last year, our Nathan in Guys and Dolls was on book the week of the show.
Well, like I said, our only real problem was Marius. . .he was a pretty boy with a nice voice but that's about it >.< Luckily enough, most of the time he didn't realize he made a mistake and just kept going.
good thing too. nothing is more awkward to see or do then just sitting there and being like. "dude, whats my line?" in your head.
Well, personal opinion, but I think it's worse to be the guy working with said person and debating whether to wait for your cue or to just go on. . .
i've experienced both. it's the magic of live theater
I did a skit for Theatre Arts and it was 20 mineutes. I have 50 lines. A kid had 1 line. I got my lines down a week after the scripts went out. He had to use a script in the rehersal THE DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE. "Rolls eyes" He was taking it as a blowoff class. So that explains alot.
i am in a school that thrives on getting the show together during tech week, and from what i understand the actors really struggle to get off-book.
i liked the willy wonka musical, but watching the video made me feel way too much like kidz bop did it or something.
