Peggy Lee recorded a great version of “On the Street Where You Live” on her “Latin ala Lee” album (the whole album is a blast…all Latin-tinged versions of classic showtunes).

The song was bombing badly in the original out-of-town tryout, so Moss Hart re-cast the role of Freddie THREE TIMES, thinking it must be the singer's fault. Then someone pointed out that the audience didn't care about the song because they had no idea who Freddie was...they simply didn't remember him from the Ascot scene. So Lerner wrote the new verse to re-cap the action at Ascot, the audience suddenly understood what was going on and poor old John Michael King got his role back.
