Anyone seen this film yet? Its being dubbed as a "musical" because theres so much music in it, even tho it doesnt follow the traditional format. I saw it this weekend. The music moved me to tears twice!
anyone else seen it?
Loved it.
Bought the soundtrack that day.
A really fantastic movie
i've had the soundtrack on repeat since i saw it this weekend. i enjoyed the film. i wasnt blown away by it, but i enjoyed it... the music however... left me speechless. i actually got a little misty-eyed during their scene in the piano shop when they played "falling slowly". i dont know why... it just hit me like a ton of bricks.

I've been wanting to see this movie for awhile! Last time I checked IMDB, they didn't have a great synopsis. So I was wondering what it was about?
I saw it yesterday and am still haunted by its beautiful simplicity. The music is fantastic as well as the performances of the two leads. Highly recommend.
I never even heard of this. Where did you see it in DC?

Plot: Boy meets girl. They play music. Nothing else happens because their lives are complex.
The music is some of my favorite rock music I've heard in quite some time. I enjoy the music a lot, but this movie is one big promo for why you should buy the soundtrack -- instead of a real story. It is the boy meets girl version of Waiting for Godot. Not really my style or aesthetic.
however, two of the songs are in my top25 most played songs on my ipod.
I love Glen Hansard (huge fan of his band The Frames) and I love his music but even I found the movie overrated. Great music, worth buying the soundtrack for (and worth buying Glen's other music) but the film isn't worth it.
Dottie,
It is playing at the Landmark on E Street and 11th near Metro Center.
best movie of the year...hands down

Saw the movie a few weeks ago, enjoyed it. But I loved the soundtrack. The next day I went to go pick up the soundtrack at my favorite record store in San Francisco and lucky me, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová were having an in-store performance that day.
saw it again today.
love it even more.

I loved it as well.
And I disagree with the OP. I would definately consider it a musical, albeit one in a completely different vein from that of Chicago or Dreamgirls. It's more of a performance oriented musical, somewhat similar to the film version of Cabaret (but less flashy). But there are many moments of character/plot being delivered through song.

This is probably in my list of the top 5 worst movies I have ever seen
Just saw it yesterday, and I've had the soundtrack on repeat ever since. (Yay for the movie theater being across the street from Barnes and Noble!) It's a tiny little movie, but somehow it's picked up enough buzz to show up prominently on Oscarwatch.com (although personally I think the best it could hope for is a Best Song win). True, the movie itself isn't too much more than a framework for the soundtrack, but with music this fantastic, who cares?
Really, misschung? I thought it was beautiful.
