I put on sun screen because our ozone layer is disappearing, so UV radiation is killing our skin.
AND I make cereal.
AND I use an umbrella when it's raining outside.
AND, I breathe.
AND, I use make-up.
AND I dance.
See? I'm just a regular scientist. Too bad I'm not doing too well in that class...

Posted: 6/13/06 at 10:24pmI use my ipod every day -- though that's really more magic than science.

I maintain homeostasis even as we speak.
Can't forget that I defy gravity on weekends.

Sure Elphaba. Will you be covering travel costs?
It's a Dyson, so it's even more scientific than an average vacuum.

I complete an electrical circuit every time I turn on a switch.
I create a short duration steady state fluid flow whenever I turn on a faucet.
I intake atmospheric air and process it into heat, carbon dioxide, water, and other trace gases every time I breathe.

While at the gym, I exert the bodily version of levers and pulleys engaging muscles, tendons, and ligaments to move a weight against the force of gravity to break muscle fibers and allow them to regrow in a larger size with more fibers derived from protein that I intake from food...
While listening to music, adjustment of the volume will change the intensity of the soundwaves emitted from the speakers that reach my eardrums which then have signals transmitted through the aural nerves to the cerebral cortex and identifies the song I'm listening to as 'Move On' from "Sunday in the Park with George."

Yeah, I do that with the springs with straps, trapeze bars, and other equipment I use in Pilates. Not to mention the instructor pushing me in the back with her feet to make the muscles and soft tissue go in every direction they don't usually go in daily life to keep you springy.
But thanks, kissmycookie! I couldn't have put it quite so scientifically as you did! (Love your mod fleur-de-lis avatar, too.)

My thought process is all about empiricism, hypothesis and investigation, basic and applied research.
I should get a grant just for being ME!
