One of my band's songs was on network TV this past Thursday!!

OK, so I see we lost all our posts for a certain time period (apparently my last post was in August sometime), so I'm re-posting this info, since I wasn't able to check in and see any responses (if there were any) the first time around. Indulge me, OK? Thanks!

So, it was really weird... I was just channel surfing along on Thursday night, and I came across "Big Shots" on ABC, and one of Velvet Chain's songs ("Don't Leave A Diva" off our first album, Warm) was totally playing during an entire party scene!

I didn't know anything about the placement (our licensing guy didn't bother to tell us - turns out he figured we'd just find out once we got the check), so it was quite a surprise to hear my voice in the background behind Michael Vartan. :-P

I just had to share.

Totally weird! And cool!

Thanks! It was really fun... I was just sitting there, looking for something to watch, and then I heard my own voice/song on TV. I was all, "Hey! That's me!" LOL

That's awesome. I did tell you that I have your new DVD pre-ordered. In the meantime I watch the old Buffy tapes and yell at her for talking through your song...

Erika- THAT IS SO COOL! I wish I would have seen that show! What a nice surprise to hear your own music on network TV behind one of the best looking actors around! I hope you get a big check! (do you get paid more if the song is on network TV- just wondering?) Congrats and thanks for sharing!

supportivemom: Well, yes, royalties from network TV are better than those from cable, but we're not really talking about that much $ this time around. Although if the show's a hit and goes into syndication, or gets aired overseas, we'll probably get more $ from that than from the initial license.

Congrats!!! I haven't seen the episode yet, but but I've been watching the series so far and enjoying it. I'll have to watch it on ABC.com. I'll listen for the song!

Cool, suzycat! It's the "instrumental version," so the spoken word part isn't there, but the choruses (which are sung) still are.
