I would take a large collapsable suitcase and get most of that stuff in NY. Then at least you only have to lug it from NY to MA. I would bring plasticware, not silverware, as it weighs less. As for room, get spacebags for your pillows and blankets. You can use a vaccum to suck most of the air out and they take up very little space. Just don't bring anything that you think you can get there. Fans are cheap and it sounds like a pain to tote.
