Has anyone here gotten their diplomas through online degrees? If so, did you like it and why/why not?

My sister is a teacher. She received her MA through Phoenix. She only needed it for pay upgrade. She enjoyed it and it was worth the price.

I know this queen who got a certificate in hair conditioning at Blaine! Online! and now runs a children's bell choir or something. You really don't get anywhere without that sheepskin.
are people with online degrees taken as seriously by hiring personel? someone should do a study.
zzannahk--that is one of the reasons I asked.

Given the insular nature of those in academe, my guess would be a resounding "no." But it's just a guess.
My mother's boss got one. Actually, this was before online degrees, but he got his doctorate through a correspondence course, culminating in a 30-minute phone conversation for a final review of his thesis. He then insisted that everyone in his office begin addressing him as "Dr. [his last name]." They did, and they laughed at him behind his back all the while.

"...culminating in a 30-minute phone conversation for a final review of his thesis."
That does sound rigorous.
