Obviously this needs a new thread.
Who would you pick as next year's Oscar host?

"JACKIE MASON? I hope you're kidding."
They like stand up comedians don't they?

Yup. Ellen. Funny, clean, low-key. Perfection.
Oh and Maureen gets to sing all the nominated songs next year.

Patti LuPone.
She would host the show, sing all the songs, present all the awards, and then accept them...on her own behalf.
(but would she...still wear...a hat?)
I jest. I'd like to see Ellen or maybe Robin Williams do it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that Robin Williams makes everything he appears on "all about him." Why does he feel the need to do five minutes of his schtick where ever he appears? No one else came out and "Performed" before they presented. Besides which, he's still doing the same tired jokes. Elmer Fudd doing "Streetcar named Desire?" It was funnier in the 80's when he had Elmer Fudd singing "Fire".
Why do the Oscars need a host anyway? Have that announcer introduce the President of the Academy, he can make his speech and bring out the first presenter, then just have that off stage announcer introduce each presenter. If they chose presenters with style, they wouldn't need a cheap comic.

the way the Oscars appear to be going, in a few years, they'll just have everyone on stage, have the awards on a table, and tell 'em to go for it.
It appears that the gala awards show is *over*, kids. New format, please!

I still say Dane Cook, although I know that he is way to classless for the Oscars.
I like the Ellen idea, what about Wanda Sykes?

Robin Williams also annoys the piss out of me. I just wanna shake him and say "Focus, Focus".
But on Sunday night, I think he was one of the funnier parts of the show.

I can't remember her name...but she's a stand up. Kathy something. Had a show last year called The D List. She makes me laugh.
But I'd vote for Ellen.
Trying not to be racist, but I'm not a big fan of Chris Rock. He isn't funny and his jokes got annoying.
