Has anyone else read the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon? I am hooked and pretty excited about the upcoming Starz production of it.

I somehow only just realized they were making a miniseries! Which is super strange for me because I'm usually really up-to-date on stuff like that, and I've loved the books since middle school.

I started reading them in high school and was lucky enough to attend a talk that she did here in Virginia a few months ago. She seems to have quite a bit of creative control, at least as a courtesy from the production staff. She keeps fans updated about the casting on her facebook page. The actor Sam Heughan has been cast as Jamie and Tobias Menzies is Frank/Black Jack Randall.

KelRel - I haven't read any Outlander books yet but just ordered Cross Stitch so I will get back to you.

I actually just read Diana Gabaldon's Lord John and the Prtivate Matter - I really enjoyed it and have ordered the second in the series.

I look forward to reading how he fits in to the Outlander books.

We have your woman!

Borstal- huh?

Vera- Crossstitch is outlander. Its just the UK title. Its a little slow at first, but it gets better and better as you read. I really like Lord John and liked the spin off novels and Novellas she has done about him. He plays a pretty big ere in books later in the series.

KelRel - Thank you, so Cross Stitch is number one in the series then? I shall look forward to reading it and won't give up if it's slow to start with.

So are Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies good choices in your opinion? Are they how you imagined the characters?

Sam took some getting used to, but the author stands by him, so who am I to argue? With Tobias I kind of got chills because it was like someone pulled him from my imagination. I'm looking forward to seeing who they will cast as Claire.

I'm on the third book, Voyager, now! I LOVE the series.

Voyager is one of my favorites! Where are you at in the book?
