PBS is doing fundraising for the second week in a row and I'm going to miss EastEnders again. What's the point of having a soap opera in the lineup if you go weeks in between episodes? We're already six years behind the UK.
I think I'm going to call the number on the screen and say obscene things to the volunteer standing by. And Laura Savini better stay out of my neighborhood or she'll end up wherever Midge Woolsey ended up.

I love that Goth is complaining about a FREE public access channel.
I expect his next thread to be titled, "Get Off My Lawn, You G-D Kids!"

I'm jealous that y'all get EastEnders...we definitely don't.
And I'm a bit annoyed with ours, mainly because they never show anything new. They save the new stuff for the off season.

It's not free, taxpayer money goes to help support PBS.

No, I'm just saying they shouldn't interrupt EastEnders with Andre Reiu Presents Gregorian Chant from Vienna for two consecutive weeks.
EastEnders comes on at midnight. The only people who are watching PBS at midnight are those who are interested in EastEnders. The Reiu crowd have long gone to bed.

Posted: 12/11/09 at 6:28pmI have no interest in EastEnders. I watch World Focus and DW-TV at that time of night on our PBS stations. They are doing the same thing here and replacing it with that Irish girl group with the violinist. (I forget the name of the group). It is a bit annoying but it is to be expected so I will just catch World Focus' broadcast at 6:30. I can't wait until DW-TV comes back though. The nice thing is that they are showing more Rick Steves shows during fundraising out here!

Whoa, the EastEnders are on your PBS? Sure we get Are You Being Served? and Flying Circus but I would have never guessed that.
How much non-funding will it take to get The Lawrence Welk Show off my local PBS station?

Posted: 12/11/09 at 6:46pmI haven't watched PBS since Henry watched Sesame Street and Barney.

I admittedly still take glimpses of the children's programming I used to watch... except Barney. Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow (rip), and Arthur, yes.
PBS has good programs for news like frontline and they do bring over old british comedies along with Masterpiece Theatre from across the pond. With my PBS station there also is the original series of The Twilight Zone which is can't miss TV for me.
I still have a love-hate relationship much like my relationship with the local public radio station that insists on playing blue grass late at nights and all through the weekend while dumping This American Life.

Posted: 12/12/09 at 12:47amYes we have EastEnders, but we can't enjoy it because every week they keep reminding us how expensive it is to broadcast and if we don't run out this very second and drain our bank account and send it to PBS, then they may not be able to afford EastEnders for another year (despite it being their most popular show, or so they say).
