First DELL Desktop (5 yrs old) is just about dying, but still running.
PC laptop suggestions? $500.00 and under? (Basic). DELL Inspiron? Other? 13-17. Would prefer lightweight, if possible, keyboard w/o #s on right side). When is the best time to buy for deals? Now, before Xmas, President's Day, or before graduation (May)?
I can't research online (due to back prob). Can only sit here 10 minutes at a time. thanks if you can help.
I have the Dell Inspiron 1525 and I like it a lot. I bought it just after Christmas a few years ago so I got it for a song.
btw - have you considered buying a bed desk and/or back rest?
Bed desk
Thanks, Eris. I'll probably wait until Nov/Dec and see what the deals are...if you don't mind my asking, what was your $$ (deal)?

Keep an eye out come August as well. There will likely be a number of back to school specials. I've been seeing some commercials offering a free X-Box 360 with purchase of some laptops, though I haven't paid too much attention to those since I'm not in the market for a Windows based computer at the moment.
I paid less than $500 but I mostly got the basics - no webcam and such. I bought it at a time when they were not only offering a free memory upgrade, free shipping, and 50% off Belkin bags.
I just got a Samsung RV511 at the beginning of the Summer, and I have no complaints.

And I agree, keep an eye on the back to school specials.
I bought my Toshiba at Walmart, of all places, and haven't had a moment of trouble. It has a built in webcam and Windows Vista Home Premium, though they all have Windows 7 now. I know I paid less than $500. I love it. Check their website. They do free site to store shipping, if you are near a store.
