Posted: 5/16/07 at 5:18pmJust saw this film for the first time last night. As Popa said, tough to watch at times, but it is such a great film. I loved the scene of the "sumptuous feast". So creative.

Posted: 5/16/07 at 6:11pmit's a great movie. I was quite shocked at the violence and gore, which I tend to stay away from in movies, but it worked quite well with the story and made an unforgettable visual impact. it really is one of those movies that crosses over into being an "experience."

GET
THE
DVD!!!
The DVD is one of the most extras-laden sets I've seen in quite a while, which is certainly awesome for this amazing amazing film.
By the way, would any of you parents out there feel comfortable showing this to your kids and talking about it afterwards? I think a truly mature and truly smart child could certainly handle it.

Posted: 5/18/07 at 7:21amGod what a dull film this was. I just hated that little girl. I couldn't wait for the Captain and his maid to get back on screen. All that bogus "fantasy" nonsense has been better done elsewhere.

Posted: 5/18/07 at 9:21amI saw it last night. I found it more disturbing than I expected. It was the kind of film that I had to spend a few hours away from before I knew if I liked it. It's a phenomenal film.

This is a sick movie. The gratuitous, extended violence and over-the-top torture scenes ruined the film for me. Who exactly was this movie made for?
Not for me. As ambitious and creative as it was... I don't ever want to see this again. Sorry, but I haven't become that desensitized.

Posted: 5/18/07 at 4:30pmI loved this film. Yes, it was violent but so was Franco's Spain of that time period. The film also showed the dark side to fairy tales. Many of the ones we know have been sanitized, Disneyfied much to their detriment.

Posted: 5/18/07 at 5:02pmIt's a movie for adults and people that can take some pretty strong violence. i loved the movie..thought it was one of the best movies of 06.

Easily the best film of 2006.
To me, there isn't any real competition.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

perhaps cruel, because not one of the trailers in his country mention anything about it?
Perhaps because I do not seem to have the time you do to know every little nuance of every movie?
Needless to say, it is one of the best films I have ever seen....simply amazing

Please, Elphaba! It was common knowledge.
Apparently, we're too common for you.

Posted: 5/20/07 at 2:59pmactually, when an american trailer features characters not speaking and a narrator intoning everything, there is a good chance that the film is not in english.
#45re: Pan's Labyrinth
Posted: 5/20/07 at 3:12pmBut that doesn't necessarily mean it's in Spanish, and that's what Elphaba didn't realize, apparently.

Elphaba's not the only one who didn't know.
Neither did I.
I thought the film was pkay, but no where near they hype that I've been hearing...

Posted: 5/20/07 at 9:01pmWhat's "pkay" mean? Is that like "pwned"?
