Paramount Pictures Pacts For Warren Beatty's Next Picture

I am a huge Warren Beatty fan so I thought I would post this. I LOVED all four pictures he has directed (HEAVEN CAN WAIT,REDS,DICK TRACY, and BULWORTH) so I am excited he has come out of retirement to direct a new film. I hope he gets around to directing his Howard Hughes film someday but this will do until then. Of course,as of now there are very few details.

I love his films ("Reds" is one of my all-time favorite movies ever), but I just hope he's not trying to play a 30-something romantic lead anymore. Hopefully, it's an appropriate character. I just know how vain he can be about his work.

Question is, will he appear in it? Someone commented that even though he is 74 he looks damn good and he has starred in all the films he has directed. Since he is so picky on the projects he does I am hoping this is something really special. I read a few months ago that he has been writing a new film for about 6 years now. I bet this is the film he has been working on.

Thanks Jordan! How did I miss that? Looks like he is also preparing a DICK TRACY sequel.

Apparently this film IS his long talked about Howard Hughes biopic. Making it a romantic comedy sounds like a twist. If Beatty is playing Hughes it would have to be Hughes late in life(although Beatty's ego could play him at 50 years old I guess) Still, I wish Variety or Hollywood Reporter would confirm this.

I found this article pretty amusing and mostly true.

The latest. Impressive cast.

Deadline told you Monday that Warren Beatty was getting behind the camera for the first time since Bulworth. Paramount and Beatty are keeping details under wraps, but here's what I've heard: He will play Howard Hughes, but it's not really a biopic; part of the plot involves an affair he had with a young woman in the later years of his life. I've heard that he's going top shelf for the ensemble cast he is putting together. Here is who he's meeting with: Andrew Garfield, Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Shia La Beouf, Jack Nicholson, Evan Rachel Wood and Rooney Mara. Beatty has wanted to play Hughes forever. The courtship of Baldwin is particularly intriguing, since in Martin Scorsese's superb Howard Hughes movie The Aviator, Baldwin played Hughes' main adversary, Pan Am World Airways founder Juan Trippe. We'll see which actors end up making the movie, but it certainly sounds like this project that Beatty wrote and has ruminated on for years is going to happen in a most ambitious way.
