Hi BWWers -
I have to tell you all what a great time I had at the Paul McCartney concert last night. He is simply amazing - what a treat to hear a this 63 year old legend live... and sounding in terrific voice on the third stop of his new US Tour. Paul sang so many songs from his 40+ year career - pre-Beatles, Beatles, Wings, and solo stuff. Paul gave his audience 2 and 1/2 hours of memories and music - both solo on piano and guitar and with an outstanding full band. The stage set up was very cool - one can see where significant dollars were spent on lighting and graphics.
Serious Beatles fans need to see this show live. The required hits ("Hey Jude", "Yesterday") are here, but Paul sang many songs which have never been performed in concert before. Remember, the Beatles stopped touring together in 1966.
SET LIST SPOILER follows - Don't look if you are seeing Paul in concert soon and want to be surprised!
In no particular order, here are the Beatles songs that I can recall Paul singing last night: "Magical Mystery Tour", "Drive My Car", "Eleanor Rigby", "Penny Lane", "Yesterday", "I'm Fixing a Hole", "She Came In the Bathroom Window", "I'll Follow the Sun", "For No One", "Till There was You" (The Music Man!), "Good Day Sunshine", "Get Back", "Hey Jude", Let It Be", "Blackbird", "Helter Skelter", "Please, Please Me", "Got To Get You Into my Life", and the last encore - "Sgt. Pepper/The End" (which finished with those prolific words -'...and in the end, the love you take...is equal to the love you make'). I was thrilled out of my mind when Paul sang my very favorite ballad - "I Will" off of The White Album in an acoustic set mid-concert. Wings-era enthusiasts would have been thrilled by 70s eras selections "Jet", "Let Me Roll It", "Live and Let Die" and "Maybe I'm Amazed". Paul also sang several new tunes off his latest CD offering - "Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard".

thanks for that Jungle....I saw Paul on his last tour at Giant stadium...he really brings back lots of memories for me. Glad you had fun !!!
Hi Boobs!
The concert brought back so many good memories for me, too. Paul really seemed to having a great time on-stage and loved playing some of the Beatles 'nuggets' in concert for the first time. Some of the song selections blew me away! Paul bantered with the audience and shared many 'back stories' of how some of the songs were written. Very cool.
Sounds wonderful! Glad you enjoyed it! So sad I couldn't get tix.

Girly we'll just have to live through Jungle.
Hi Bdwaygirl!
I hope that all is well with you! sorry that you weren't able to get tickets to the McCartney show in your area. The Atlanta show was a sell-out, too. Keep watching your local media. After the stage was set up for the concert, additional tickets (good ones!) were released the day of the show for folks who were 'quick on the draw'.
Will definitely keep checking!
Boobs, at least you've seen him in concert at least once. Lucky you!

I saw Paul on his last tour in Hartford (my freshman year) and here I am beginning my senior year, and I really, really wanted to snag tix for one of the MSG shows...alas, they changed the on-sale date from a Sunday (the day I was moving out of my dorm in the spring) to either Friday or Saturday, when I was staying at a friend's house, so I wasn't really on-line. Needless to say, I was rather devestated when I logged on to ticketbastard that Sunday 10 minutes before they were supposed to go on sale to discover the "Find Tickets" button active. BOOOO!!! I'll definitely be checking TM periodically in the next week to see if any pop up. *fingers crossed for next Friday or Saturday*
Good luck with the ticket hunt, Mabel. The show is really worth it!
Thanks, Jungle!
I'm going October 4th. I've seen him every time he's toured... Wouldn't miss this for anything.
Yeah, I'd like to think that w/ four dates in NYC something will show up, and I'd LOVE for it to be Friday or Saturday so I could have my mom come down for it. It's just not right that she's never seen Paul in concert!
Jungle, my BWW anniversary buddy, mere words can not say how jealous I am right now. So glad you had an awesome time my friend!!
Addy - You will have so much fun at this show. Paul really changed up the Beatles songs that he does from the last tour - and I had many "Oh, Wow!" moments!
Hi Mom! I hope my Anniversary Buddy is doing well. I sang a chorus of "Na Na Na Na's" during "Hey Jude" for you! :)
Hey, Jude's my favorite!!!

Oh, I'm very jealous. Sounds like it was a great time, jungle, thanks for posting about it.
Just bumping this to say I got tix on TM for the Saturday show!!! YAY!!! I can't wait!
I am going next Tuesday, and I am so looking forward to it!
I wish everyone had the chance to enjoy/experience a Paul McCartney concert!
Mabel, I am forever grateful to you. I've been trying desperately for weeks...cursing Ticketmaster... saw your post, went to Ticketmaster... Got tickets for Friday night.
I'm going to hate myself when I get my credit card bill... but OH MY GOD! I'm going to see Paul McCartney!!!
It will SOOOOO be worth it!!!!
Yeah, I was hoping for SH*Tty $55 nose-bleeds, but after checking in over the past few days, I hopped on the $89 tix that popped up. I figured I'd just kick myself if nothing else showed up later, and I found myself twiddling my thumbs on Saturday. Whatever, you only live once!
And this concert tour has been getting such great press...
I have my tickets for Tuesday, but may try for this weekend, as well!

Hey Jude....
They had $90 tix (as well as the two higher price tiers) for Friday and Saturday as of a couple hours ago, Addy. I don't know how long they'll be there though. I got 313, row B...looks pretty decent, a close row, 300-section, but close to the stage. I'd always rather be higher and close to the stage then be in 100-level and across the arena.
ETA: It was 313, not 331...hooray for a numerically dyslexic moment!
