"Peace Child"

Anyone out there a former Peace Child?

In the 80's, it was a group of kids that sang kind of folksy peace songs. It was cold war based and mostly tried to get American and Soviet kids to come together and bring their countries together. Anyway, it was a big deal here.

Anyone, anyone??

Does it count if I was in a show in elementary school called "Peace Child" with a bunch of kinda folksy peace songs. It was also cold war based and mostly tried to get American and Soviet kids to come together and bring their countries together. I hated it. The star of the show was some crazy girl who uttered such gems as ...

"They say they have enough bombs to blow up the whole world a hundred times. But, if they blow it up once, what's felt to blow up the next 99 times?"

She also had this crazy dream scene where she woke up from a nightmare and was all "NO! I don't wanna die! I wanna live!" and then proceeded to sing a neo-Soviet song called "I Want to Live". Oh, and there was a song called "Mr. President" where this girl and a guy sung a song asking the President and the Secretary if it was true they could destroy the world. Then the whole cast joined in on a song called "We Were the Children of Yesterday"... just utter crap. Is this the kind of stuff you mean??? re: 'Peace Child'

Yes, CATSNYrevival, that was totall it. I was in that show too. I can't believe someone else knows about that. It was pretty cheesy, I agree.

Yep. That was it. How funny. I had no idea it was a real musical. I was in it in 6th grade. I thought our teachers had written it. None of us even had any clue what the hell we were performing. We didn't understand any of that crap. We were just singing and people were looking at us, crying and clapping, we thought we were special. ugh... I still remember the whole thing.

"Mr. President -
is it true what they say?
You can kill all the world...
in less than a day?"

"Mr. Secretary -
can it be what it seems?
You can kill all our lives?
All our hopes and our dreams?"

We even ended up singing one of the songs at graduation...

"We're getting older.
As time goes by.
A little older...
Everyday.
We were the children...
of yesterday."

Ugh... I have such animosity towards that show now... re: 'Peace Child'
