So, I am sitting here, watching Pee-Wee's Playhouse (I grew up with this show, and when they got released on DVD I HAD to get them) and I am thinking that if done the right way this could work as maybe an Off-Broadway show. I know I would see it. I think there are enough adult themes in the show that it could be enjoyed by kids/adults alike.
Wasn't Pee Wee's original stage show (that preceded the actual Playhouse show as well as the movies) a bit of a musical anyway?

I wish he would get off of his ass and make those movies he's been talking about for nearly TEN YEARS now.
I agree Cruel. I had heard that Tim Burton was interested in the darker script that he had written. Of course that was 3 years ago or so. I would love to know what the latest is on these films. He still looks good and could easily pull them off but I do not want to see him at 60 or trying to pull it off.

He said that he talked to Johnny Depp about taking over as Pee Wee, but what would be the point of that?
Paul Reubens could still pull off Pee Wee at his present age.
Its not Pee Wee Herman without Paul Reubens. Depp could play his evil twin or something.
Lake, I could see you standing up in a room of 200 people and pitching this idea in a Pee Wee voice.
No offense intended whatsoever.
None taken...
Did anyone see the movie "Waitress?" I can't think of the real name of the actor, but he played Adrienne Shelley's boyfriend/husband in the movie. I can remember thinking through the entire movie, "This guy looks just like Paul Reubens!!!" He could play the role if Paul Reubens turned it down...
NO ONE can play Pee Wee except Paul Reubens. That would be like doing another Austin Powers movie with someone who reminds us of Mike Myers. Once Reubens can't do it anymore, Pee Wee dies. So they better hurry up.

I look forward to the return of PUSHING DAISIES for Paul Ruebens.
