re: People who park in Handicapped parking spaces...

I see a lot of this at pharmacies.

People will park "temporarily" in the Handicapped parking spot and leave their car running either while they run in to pick something up or if they send someone in. It's still... parking.

re: People who park in Handicapped parking spaces...

tazber, my response to that is, I should be stripped of my parking privileges because other people are married and have children and I don't? Sod them

I was on the subway today, and this middle aged woman gave up her seat to a child. Whats up with that? It's the children who's supposed to give their seats up.

I actually agree VCNY. But just to clarify, it's usually one designated spot next to the handicapped spots. It's a little bigger so parents can get their kids in and out of the car seats and SUVs.

I wasn't saying you don't have manners.

Hell, most people over 25 could afford a quick refresher.

I started this thread title because I was watching Parking Wars on A&E and some lady had a $312 ticket for parking in a handicapped spot.

re: People who park in Handicapped parking spaces...

I once yelled at a handicapped man with crutches near the local supermarket where there's a Dunkin' Donuts. He parked in the handicapped space.
"Where are all the lazy f##ks going to park?"

I think that they are mentally handicapped.

Ooooh, that would be a good modern-day Twilight Zone episode:

Non-handicapped, smug, sneaky people parking in handicapped spots, who suddenlhy BECOME handicapped after they do it. That'll teach 'em!

My wife is handicapped, and has a placard that she uses for parking. However, when she is not with me, I NEVER take use a handicapped space. It enrages me that healthy people abuse handicapped parking privileges.

I was referring to handicapped parking, though in rereading my post it was worded poorly. I guess I don't do my best writing at 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Now that it's 10AM, I should do better.

I hate when people park in handicapped spots when they are perfectly healthy. People should be grateful that they are able to walk that extra distance and not be disabled.

Right now I am pretty pissy about the expectant mom's only spots that I see idiot dads parked in while they wait for their wives to go in and out of stores. Guess what buddy, you're not 9 and a half months pregnant and waddling from the back of the parking lot, you're sitting in your car taking up space that women who are in pain and swollen and just plain miserable at this point could really use and appreciate. Not to mention hormonal as heck and will gladly pull a TWANDA on your butt if you don't move...

Sorry, some idiot guy was idling in a Expectant Mom's Only spot at Babies R US yesterday and I was having some mild contractions and had to walk from the back of the parking lot to the store and thought that I was going to kill him. Not nearly as serious an offense as parking in a handicapped spot, but still rude as can be.

I had a placard for a long time due to an orthopedic disaster and it felt like a slap in the face when I'd see people misusing the accommodation. Handicapped parking is one of the precious few silver linings that comes with being disabled (especially during the holiday shopping season), and it shouldn't be used casually.
