Any of you performer-types ever had to go on while deathly ill? It's the worst, ain't it? I remember two times:
1. Once, many moons ago, had the stomach flu during a run of HELLO DOLLY in stock. "The Waiter's Galop" was especiallllly interesting: dance on, dance off, PUKE, dance on with a tray, double pirouettes, dance off, PUUUUKE, grab the next prop, dance on, smile, dance off....PUKE...then it's time for the "Dolly" number! Oh, Lord...that was awful.
2. Rising into place on a lift during a run of "Xmas Carol" -- while zonked out of my mind on pain medication for an abcessed tooth. Singing "The Boar's Head Carol", no less. I thought I was maintaining pretty well -- until I caught myself in the middle of a scene staring aimlessly at "Scrooge", almost drooling. Wheeeeeee.
