RIP Lawrence! Thank-you for your art!

One of the finest actors ever, he never gave a bad performance. I know that even though he retired last year he will be sorely missed. I actually got to meet him in Chicago at a book signing and was completely speechless. I became lost in how beautiful his eyes were.

Now only Sharif remains of the Lawrence gang
It is astonishing he never won an Oscar (along with Richard Burton)

I fell for the last hoax hoax with Paul Walker.
So sad to hear this news. One of the finest screen actors of my lifetime.
We just watched The Lion In Winter again last weekend. A favorite of mine, among so many strong performances by O'Toole.
RIP to an incredibly talented man.

He was a delightful man. On Letterman he said he wanted on his tombstone, "it distresses us to return work which is not perfect". Watch the clip for the context.
O'Toole on Letterman.

Peter had such great stories and Letterman often said that is why he enjoyed him as a guest. This is how I will always remember Peter. Just check out this entrance. Who could get away with this today? The pencil thin moustache and cigarette holder was just classic.

Here Peter tells Dave a story about him and Richard Harris. This story is awesome. Fast forward to the 1:05 mark. This story will put a smile on your face.

The man was a bloody marvel and far and away one of my favorite actors. His movies: Beckett, The Lion in Winter, Lawrence of Arabia, The Ruling Class, My Favorite Year and The Stunt Man are my favorite films of all time and his work in them unsurpassed. There is not another male actor like him in this generation and he will be greatly missed. RIP Mr. O'Toole and Thank You for sharing your brilliant talent with us!

Posted: 12/15/13 at 5:39pmWas fortunate enough to see him in Pygmalion opposite Amanda Plummer. It was a Wednesday matinee. Katharine Hepburn was in the audience. The whole theater applauded her as she took her seat. Mr O'Toole was wonderful...I did suspect he was a little drunk but I will never know. He was wonderful. I always enjoyed his work.

Recently re-watched his last Oscar-nominated role, Venus, in which he plays an aging actor enlivened by a crass young woman. Wonderful.

Great quote from Noel Coward after LOA
"If he'd have been any prettier It would have been called Florence Of Arabia"

Posted: 12/17/13 at 3:58pmRIP Peter. Always liked him. One of my favorite lines from any film ever is from My Favorite Year when he wanders into the ladies bathroom to pee. The great Selma Diamond looks at him and says "This is for ladies only" to which O'Toole replies "so is this mum but every so often I've got to run a little water through it".
