Posted: 1/12/07 at 11:13pmSNL, would youmind reporting back after you get it and crank it up? I, too, am interested in a new printer. (Also, do you mind sharing what it cost, and where you got it? Don't mean to to pry, but I am very curious about this printer.) Thanks!

miss pennywise, I will definitely report back, whether the outcome is positive or negative - but I am staying optimistic!
Amazon is listing it at $141 with free shipping, and it's the best price I've found.

Posted: 1/12/07 at 11:47pmI find it difficult to recommend anything that's related to aesthetic taste to someone else. Really, we all have different criteria for what we consider to be a good print.

Posted: 1/13/07 at 1:51amThanks, SNL. It seems everyone here loves HPs, so we know they are reliable. Now I want to hear what the Canons do. Have fun!

Yes, if you're concerned with paper feed speed and speed of printing, and other technical aspects, you can compare those factors and decide which is the one for you. Good luck to all!

Just bumping this thread to say I got my Canon PIXMA iP6700D from Amazon yesterday. I've printed a few 4x6 photos and a few DVD covers, and I am sold.
First of all, setup was a breeze. The print head is a consumable part, which is a positive if it ever needs replacing. The ink tanks unwrap and insert easily, and even illuminate when installed in the printer.
Second, it is FAST. A 4x6 borderless print took about 45 seconds at the highest quality setting.
And of course, quality. I'm not even using Canon brand photo paper (I'm using up the rest of my leftover Epson DURABrite stock) and the print quality surpasses anything I printed on my old Epson. No wetness or smudges even seconds after the print is finished. The Canon picks up little details I never saw on my Epson prints. It also appears to be very conservative with ink, which can't be said for my old Epson.
Consumer Reports was right. This printer is a great buy and packs a lot of power for the price. I highly recommend it.
