Hey all... we finally headed out to Central Park this morning. We got there really early, but not early enough. There were lots of folks out with their dogs, lots of folks training for the marathon... so we tried our best to get some good shots. Wanted to share them with you all... cant wait to go back. The foliage looks like its just starting to hit peak:
Amazing!!! When did you shoot these?
I've yet to get out and shoot...and now I'm busy this coming week and will miss the peak!
hey! long time no chat... i shot them this morning. i was kind of pissed too because the lighting sucked this morning and i had to throw away so many shots. next weekend we're in DC so i'm gonna try and go again tomorrow morning to see if i can get anything better. the leaves look incredible!
Gorgeous, just gorgeous. My favorites are the Bethesda Fountain and the bridge shots. But if I had to choose postcards from among selection, I know I would buy them ALL.
Lovely.
Try to head up to the Ravine, The Pool, The Conservatory Gardens and the Harlam Meer areas of the park on the North End. It's amazing--you can do the whole area in a short time--lagoons, waterfalls, and LOTS of color.
Take the 2 train to 110th street--check out a map of the park in that area--it's my favorite part of Central Park.
thanks miss p! the last one is my favorite. i always end things with my fave shot.
tom - i keep meaning to head up there, but the park was all closed off today. they didnt even let me head over to the bow bridge. the marathon
Pab, these are incredible! Thank you so much for sharing. :)
I think the North Woods area should be fine...at least on the West Side. Then you should be able to walk to the Conservatory Gardens and the Ravine (which is behind the Skating Rink on 105 street/at the Harlem Meer.--the Other Skating rink in the Park.)
Photo-time expired.
WOW! Your photos are simply STUNNING! I mean- WOW! I'm still waiting for my coffee table book. It can be called the Four Seasons of Central Park. We have these wonderful fall photos! I'm looking forward to seeing winter, spring, and summer. but- wow!
If you have more of Bethesda, can you post them?
Great photos. Makes me want to book a flight.
Those are absolutely fabulous, Pablo. Where can I buy a LARGE print of the last one for framing?
And Miss P - Thanks so much for posting those! I didn't have a single child stop by last night and I kept wondering about the trick or treaters up your way!
My pictures will only be up for a little while longer. BTW, that's Inspector Clouseau and a Witch. "Not a warlock, a witch." "The Witch" was very specific about that.
We had very few kids trick-or-treating as well.
thanks everyone! i love sharing them with you all because i know how you all love new york as much as i love photographing it.
luvemcee - i MIGHT have a few more bethesda ones... :) maybe. keep an eye out just in case.
i also took video so i'm editing it quickly in imovie now and i hope to share it too. you have to see how amazing the colors are even on video. its such a pleasure to walk the park. there were so many dogs out this morning! monica is obsessed with dogs so i was always walking around trying to take photos and i'd turn around and shed be a mile behind me still on the floor petting all the dogs, talking to the owners... i have no idea why new york has a reputation for being a rude city. i think new yorkers are some of the nicest friendliest people i have ever met.
anyhow...
MissP... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love them!! the Inspector C. is even better than you had described it. and i love the witch costume too. your kids are awesome. when i was their age i never had such cool costumes like Inspector C. thats genius.
Ha! Your kids are too much, miss p. I'm suddenly reminded of my own siblings. When my little brother and sister were 4 and 5, respectively, my mom had gotten them a clown and witch costumes to wear. But my brother REALLY wanted to be the witch and threw a tantrum until the costumes were switched and my sister was stuck being a clown.
Great pics as always, pab! I especially adore the first one. It reminds me of my fave Robert Frost poem.
Out through the fields and the woods
And over the walls I have wended;
I have climbed the hills of view
And looked at the world, and descended;
I have come by the highway home,
And lo, it is ended.
The leaves are all dead on the ground,
Save those that the oak is keeping
To ravel them one by one
And let them go scraping and creeping
Out over the crusted snow,
When others are sleeping.
And the dead leaves lie huddled and still,
No longer blown hither and thither;
The last long aster is gone;
The flowers of the witch-hazel wither;
The heart is still aching to seek,
But the feet question 'Whither?'
Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season?
Beautiful pictures of Bethesda make me smile despite any bad mood - thank you for sharing your beauty.

Glad you found time to go, Pablo!
Exceptional shots.
To any other New Yorker who hasn't strolled through Central Park yet (I recommend south of 72nd Street) DO SO NOW!!! The colors aren't going to last much longer and they are absof*ckilutely stunning.
Take a lunch break, bring a jacket, and soak it in.
My favorite spot is the western tip of The Lake (beyond the white bridge) facing the San Rimo. *sigh*

Wow--stunning pictures! Thank you for sharing! Amazing.
I've never been to New York, but this is the second time I've seen photos of yours that have made me wish I was there. You do a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of the city. All of the photos are gorgeous, but I especially love the ones where the trees are reflected in the water.
You must be glad you moved here, huh, cubanpab? :)
Lovely work. For some reason, your photos seem to broaden the scale of a location, if that makes any sense. Seems to make these places go on forever.
pab----those pictures are jaw-dropping! True artistry.
I agree with both you and Mamie---that last one is my favorite... and suitable for framing. Thanks for sharing them with us. If you ever do a coffee table book, let us know!
And Miss P. -- the kids are adorable! Love the choices and the costumes. Oh, to be a child again ...
