Posted: 2/15/09 at 9:23amWho else on here lives in a podunk town? I may live in the largest "city" in Mississippi, but it is Mississippi. If you want to see a Broadway touring company, you have to go 200 miles to Memphis. Art? Better fly to the High in Atlanta. Normally, it doesn't bother me, but yesterday a friend and I went scooter-pooting around town, and all we could say was, "This is some sorry sh*t."

I've never lived in a town like that......I think I'd go nuts!

I imagine you would. The largest 'cultural' event to hit this little hamlet lately was the Dixie National Rodeo and Livestock Competition.
I chose not to attend.

Posted: 2/15/09 at 11:45amI've been living here in North Carolina for a year and a half. Or as they call it 'round these parts: "Noaf Cuh-Lina". The nearest "big" city is Raleigh and I think the tour for Legally Blonde is coming through in April. That's about it. I'm literally dying of boredom down here!!! Somehow I've got to make it back up to Philly or at least Maryland.

Sing, if you're ever in Jackson, Ms, playing the Ramada Inn Knotty Pine Room and ask me that question, you will certainly get a bitter laugh followed by copious tears.

Posted: 2/17/09 at 7:29amI don't think the subruban part of Virginia Beach counts but my adoring mother lives there. Norfolk isn't very far away, so when I visit we usually go to the art museum or to The Narrow (a theatre) to see Rocky Horror Picture Show. In here area itself, the most exciting things are the park and a bluegrass hoedown once in a while.

My town is slightly Podunk-esque.
But its growing, so I can't complain!
