(what is below really ticks me off for two reasons....shooting someone who has no weapon but scissors???? Why not tazer him? I mean what's next, shooting a kid because he has a sharp carrot? Yes I realize there is a difference between two pair of scissors and a sharp carrot, but still)
WILLINGBORO, N.J. (June 7) - A student armed with scissors was shot and critically injured by a police officer Thursday outside a school for children with emotional or behavioral disorders.
Police responded to Garfield Park Academy after several 911 callers reported that a male student was "out of control" and threatening staffers, students and teachers with scissors, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi said.
When police arrived, they found the student outside the school and saw he was holding two pairs of scissors. The officers repeatedly told the boy to drop the scissors, but he wouldn't, Bernardi said.
The student continued to act aggressively, Bernardi said. A 19-year member of the force fired two shots that struck him in the abdomen and chest.

It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...
