And this, my fine friends, is why I'm not allowed to be President. It's nothing to do with me being an English girl who has nothing to do with your politics; the SOLE reason I'm not allowed to be your President is because the tourists won't like the paintjob I'd give my new home.

Bluemoon: the musings about Buchanan volunteered themselves unlike the answer to my four-terms question!
I've searched for the posts you mention and didn't realise Buchanan was considerd a bad president, although if he was pro-slavery I guess that doesn't really help his reputation.
Now I know you're married to a historian I may be back with other questions....
