I could understand if all that Courtney has done is drugs, but she's also done assault, among other things. Drugs are illegal. I agree that someone who has a substance abuse problem should get treatment for that problem. But when you break the law REPEATEDLY, jail time is usually the end result.
I also hope that Courtney can pull herself together -- most of us, under the same circumstances she is in, would be serving a sentence. Why should Courtney be any different?

True she did try to torch a home - but be that as it may - throwing people in jail because they are a "junkie" is not the answer -
imagine-
if someone whould have given proper therapy and treatment to a Billie Holiday - we would have had years worth of music that we lost - same with Love - this woman WON the New York Film Critics Awards for Best Supporting Actress - "Live through This" is a masterpeice - she needs a year of daily therapy - a year of rehab - not jail! Assault or no assualt - and as a number of BWW members can tell you, drugs can lead to almost any awful thing happening -
It's the cause of everything bad! I doubt she would have assualted anyone had she not been crocked!

Think of Robert Downey, Jr. How many times has he been in jail, out of jail, in treatment, out of treatment. He pulled a gun on someone. Yes, I agree that people with problems should be TREATED. But the judge ended up saying to him "I have NO choice at this point. You are going down a VERY destructive path and I can't give you anymore breaks."
Yes, it's a sickness, but sometimes that sickness ends up hurting or KILLING another person. Courtney threw a microphone stand at a person in a bar. Depending on how that person was hit, they could have been killed. How would you feel if it was someone important to YOU that was hit? Give her a break because she was crocked? What about DUI? Different situation?

But if Billie Holiday had accepted proper therapy and treatment, because one needs more than for it to just be provided as proven by Courtney, one needs to be receptive to it, would Holiday's music have been the same? Or possibly what made her music unique may have been lost?

Posted: 8/19/05 at 10:17pmPart of the reason you put people in jail is because they are a danger to the community -if doing drugs leads someone to assault, they're a danger to society and need to be secluded. And doing something violent because you're drugged is certainly no excuse.

Courtney Love is absolutely positively a waste of a human life. She has no talent whatsoever but apparently she is really good in bed as she's been able to woo talented men to create for her.
Her acting? Pathetic. She had a certain "cache" as a hipster-junkie and apparently can whip up psychotic dementia on cue, so she was able to convince people she was an "actress." Imagine her playing a role that wasn't a sexually promiscuous addict. Impossible. Her best performances have been given in courtrooms.
Her "singing"? Ha. She has apparently seduced some critics that her caterwauling is a sign of some deep ability, but it's not. It's overwrought crap. She couldn't carry a tune even if she were sober. Comparing her to Billie Holiday is an insult.
She can not, will not, behave in a manner befitting a member of society. She will not obey drug laws, she can not express herself without assualting people, she has repeatedly broken laws apparently just for the joy of it. She's been told repeatedly that she needs to clean up, dry out and behave. She can't--or won't. Personally I think if she wants to live like an animal, she should take some of her dead husband's millions and go live in a cave somewhere where she doesn't have to interact with other people.
Oh yeah, her "talent." Her "groundbreaking" records were all written performed and produced by more talented men who were apparently overwhelmed by her sexual prowess. She had her husband for a while, then Billy Corrigan. She will not make a record again until she can persuade some talented man to make it for her. The way her looks have gone, I can't imagine Stevie Wonder would even bed her now.
Oh yeah, I don't like her much.
