Poor poor Braves

Anyone catch the Braves game tonight? 18 freakin' innings. And then they lost, in the bottom of the 18th. 7 to 6. Very depressing. The longest game EVER in the post season.

re: Poor poor Braves

I watched it, and yes it was horribly depressing.

Maybe we can get them next year.

re: Poor poor Braves

Poor poor Braves, champions in 1995 and, what- 10-times-in-a-row divisional champs? Skip 1994 and they had another 3 in a row before that. Yes, it sucks to come out at the wrong end of a hard-fought game, but at least you have a good chance of contending next year. The Astros are looking as geezerish as the 2001 Yankees, but without quite the same pedigree.

re: Poor poor Braves

horribly depressing!? i think not! my houston astros were luring the Braves into a false sense of security before we pounced and ripped out their throats!

YAY!

we won.

ok, you can cut yourself now

14 time in a row divisional champs Plum.
The Astros are geezerish, but this is the 10th time in row the Braves simply imploded.
I really am so sick of it I would rather, and I never thought I'd say this, just lose 100 games next year and not have to invest the energy.

re: Poor poor Braves

Aw. *pets you*

But are you sure Atlanta won the division in 1994? I mean, I know it was the strike year and all, but...I was pretty sure the Expos had it.

re: Poor poor Braves

let's stop feeling bad for the braves, they've won their fare share! the 'Stros have never made it to the world series! this might be their year!

re: Poor poor Braves

That Year did not happen, there was NO 1994!

*not still bitter about the strike*
*not bitter*
*ok totally bitter*

That season had no end, so it has no winner, that is all. We came back from a bigger deficit than that in 1993 against the Giants, I think the Expos would have faded down the stretch.

Also Q or Tabooo The Braves may have won their "fair share" but no they have not won enough, at all.

We all need to send Patronus a hug as well, because I know that he was rooting for 'dem Braves.

re: Poor poor Braves

Who knows, though, right? Maybe the team airplane would have crashed.

I'll be sure to see Billy Elliot at some point. :)

re: Poor poor Braves

One more time
There was no strike in 1994.
There was no Baseball season in 1994

re: Poor poor Braves

At least give Clemens some props, smartpenguin. He threw 44 pitches in 3 innings and struck out 4 on 2 days' rest. He's frickin' 43 years old and hadn't pitched in relief since his rookie year- that would be 1984. This game is nutty.

re: Poor poor Braves

it was a frickin' crazy game. i was there. When Berkman hit his grand slam the place went wild! I got beer all over me! we were all jumping up and dow and going nuts and same with Asmus's homer. it was the 12-17th innings where it felt constantly tense and crazy because Phil Garner was rotating the team so quickly it was hard to tell who was pitching and who was batting etc... But when Clemins stepped in as our last pitcher, the place went crraaazy. He is an aaaaamazing pitcher

re: Poor poor Braves

Oh the Astros were the better team, and I always figured they would win. You could see it in the Braves' faces, they did not have what it takes.

I think that Clemens did an awesome job, but everyone and thier brother will be praising his "heroic" performance. I think it took guts and he is great, but against a team with some patience he might not have pulled it off.

Yes, I am still bitter.

Heh. The really successful people are always the ones who take full advantage of their circumstances.

re: Poor poor Braves

The 8th-11th innings were pretty intense. By the 12th and up I started getting annoyed and bored. NOTHING was happening. And after all that... One year, we will make it past the division series.

And Carolie Q, you are not welcome on this thread. re: Poor poor Braves
