one thing about family guy is that it is probably the funniest show on the air but not one the best written or best put together shows and i think voters will see that before they decide to make it the first cartoon nominated

The whole award system is skewed anyway. For my money, Lost is certainly the best show on TV (has been since it started) and hopefully it will get the love this year it didn't the last two. However, without shows like Battlestar Galactica or, in the past, Buffy getting even CONSIDERED for nominations, and with the general skewing towards HBO and Showtime shows which operate under a different protocol than the rest of what's considered, there really is no sense of "best" left with these awards.

Don't count the women of Mad Men out for featured actress. All of them are great. Also, is Robert Morse considered featured or would he be "guest" star? It would be sweet to see him nominated even for his smaller role in Mad Men.

I hope Jean Smart does get the nom. She is downright hysterical on Samantha Who?.

Also, fingers crossed for Applegate, Carell, Baldwin, Fey, Field, Dillon, and NPH.

Poehler is up for Supporting, not Lead.
Reports from the screenings say that voters were on the floor watching FAMILY GUY. But you might be right, they probably won't give it the nod. It's still a nice idea.
I really hope Krakowski gets a nod for 30 ROCK, she was quite funny in the episode she submitted, and when they actually give her screentime she shines through.
I'm not sure Chenoweth submitted her funniest episode, but she's so good in PUSHING DAISIES, I can't see her not being nominated.
Ferrara might be skating on thin ice from what I've read.

Oops, thanks Ray - I edited my post.
I also forgot Rachel Griffiths and Sally Field for Brothers and Sisters. That show is superb! They will definitely get noms.

When are the nominations out, by the way?

Nominations are out tomorrow at 5-40 LA time.
Fields and Griffiths are locks, I believe. I'm a bit surprised Flockhart didn't make it to the top 10, she does beautiful work in BROTHERS & SISTERS. The biggest outrage is the show not making it to the top 10 Best Dramas.

No love for JOHN ADAMS? Is Paul Giamatti going to get stiffed again?

I hope not. Giamatti AND Linney deserve nominations.

They'll probably ignore the excellent work of the women on Big Love again, too. re: Predictions: 2008 Emmy Award Nominations

Hopefully, the Broadway ladies who starred in A Raisin in the Sun get remembered. Phylicia Rashad, especially.

However, Audra and Sanaa Lathan also deserve nominations.

they didn't announce short lists for TV movies that's why no one's predicted them yet, A Raisin in the Sun and John Adams will be the favorites in all those categories

Terry O'Quinn (who won last year) won't be getting nominated this year. He didn't make the final 10. Michael Emerson did, however, and should be getting a happy phone call tomorrow morning. He ought to win if you ask me.

I was just going to say, everybody was surprised that Terry O'Quinn didn't make it to the top 10 since he won last year (though Emerson deserved the award if you ask me). I was pretty surprised that Naveen Andrews made it in, I think he's great but I wouldn't say that "The Economist" showed any particularly promise, especially over Josh Holloway or Jorge Garcia whose work has been unjustly snubbed by the Emmys all these years.
Hopefully Emerson will get the award this year, his work in "The Shape of Things to Come" should make him a lock for the Emmy.

Since I am really only addicted to Grey's... I think Sandra Oh or Chandra Wilson will probably get a supporting nomination. They seem to like to repeat the past year's nominations. As fantastic as I think they are, especially Oh, I don't think either should get the award. Heigl's comments annoyed me, but no one got Emmy worthy material on Grey's this year. Grey's didn't HAVE Emmy worthy material. I wish Sara had made the top ten because I feel like she had more meat this year than Sandra. She turned in a weird episode for consideration. She had better work. I think best supporting actress is a tough category. I have NO idea why TR is in the top 10 in the actor category!

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

Jersey, which episode did Sara turn in for consideration? "The Heart of the Matter"?
Either way, I think Chandra Wilson deserves her Emmy simply because she manages to steal just about every single scene she is in. I was just watching the Season finale and there is this moment right before they walk out and see the kid stuck in cement; everyone is asking Callie what is wrong with her and then Wilson comes in and says "You look weird today." With that one line she completely steals the focus, it's hilarious, fits her character, and her facial expression is priceless. That's what I call an Emmy-deserving actress. I wish she had submitted "Crash Into Me" instead of "Lay Your Hands..." due to that great exchange she has with George when he is passing messages between her and her husband, but she could turn in any episode and I'd still feel like she should be very much considered for the win.
Oh is impeccable and will probably get the nod, but she didn't have an Emmy episode this season, of course she submitted the one with the scene written specifically for her to get the nod.

All I have to say is that Michael Emerson better win. He is brilliant and I will be surprised and extremely pissed if he doesn't. There is no contest there.

I was a little surprised about Naveen Andrews too, but am happy with it. I think he deserves a nomination.

No, Ray... she SHOULD have turned in Heart of the Matter. We were all stunned when she didn't. Figured it was a given. She submitted Freedom parts 1 & 2. (Many of the cast chose the finale and the show chose it as their submission for best drama. I think agents pick submissions.) She had a MASSIVELY hot hetero sex scene at the beginning and a girl on girl kiss at the end, but in between wasn't that great. I guess the conversation with the young girl was good, but every scene in Heart of the Matter was fantastic.

Chandra is pretty spectacular. I thought the delivery of, "You're acting weird," was funny just because of the way she said weird.

Turns out the top 10 are chosen without having ever seen the submission tapes anyway. It's a popularity contest. They choose the top 10 based on popularity and buzz and then watch the submissions and vote accordingly. An "insider" said that some of the committee were annoyed that the Grey's submissions were two hours.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
