Michael Moore has just delivered a document to CBS outlining the Republican Party's decision to run Laura Bush against Hillary Clinton in 2008. Discuss.

Both of their husbands will entertain with a supper where they serve barbeque, collard greens and sweet tea.

Perhaps we'd actually have an intelligent debate over the problems that face our nation if two women were to run against each other.

Come on, you think they're actually going to let a woman run? No matter how bad the republicans want to defeat Hilary, they're not going to put Laura against her. WHat would her experience be? Being first lady? Hilary at least holds a senate position. Her credentials don't consist only of sticking by Bill. This is pathetic. I hope Michael Moore is joking. I mean I'm all for a woman president, I just don't see this duo actually happening.

Thank you, robbie, for saying out loud what I always thought was an overly crude, but extremely true political metaphor. Half of this "my God is bigger than your God" nonsense isn't about the size of anyone's God at all.

Well, they could do it the way a magazine i heard about is doing it this year. Both of the the wives of the candidates send in cookie recipies and the readers vote on the best. Apparently it's predicted the last few election correctly. It's a fail proof method, and certainly doesn't convey the stereotypical thought that women belong in the kitchen.

Okay, Humpty-Dumpty is back together again. I actually like cooking, but that kind of crap just makes me sick. Same with baseball players' wives releasing books of recipes. I don't mind if most of them are housewives or anything- it's a choice you make, and considering how much their husbands travel, probably the right one. But the idea that cooking is how the wives can contribute to charity just doesn't sit right with me.

now, plumsy, there are plenty of women out there who think that comparing recipes is a fine past time. there are stil denizens of the nuclear (sorry george, nucular) family out there for whom this is perfectly acceptable. i'm curious, oh explosive one, just which part of it offends you most?

I have nothing against being a housewife. My mom was working but chose to stay at home once I was born. I'll probably end up doing something similar once I have kids because having a career (at least the office kind) while your kids are young doesn't seem right to me.

What strikes me as a bit insiduous about these recipe books is...well geez, hasn't a baseball wife ever wanted to do something else? The implications of it just don't sit well with me. It's quite possible I'm being oversensitive, but I've stuck myself into enough male-dominated areas to claim the right to that kind of sensitivity, I think.
