About 75% Bush...eep.
Actually, some of the questions we worded in a confusing way, for about 3 of them, I had to just say "no opinion."
I guess it's the social stuff that doesn't make me a total Republican.

Posted: 8/31/04 at 2:08pmthis is the second time around for this poll. it made the rounds early this year in time for the democratic primaries and at that time i circulated it among my friends (of whom there are a lot more democrats than republicans). time after time they emailed me back to tell me that although kucinich represented their views that they could not support him as he "couldn't win."

Posted: 8/31/04 at 2:15pmpapa - the Democrats proved this go round that having a perspective and running based on it is not their priority. It's always kind of been that way, but this time they went absolutely over the edge with it. When Clark and Dean were summarily dismissed out of hand, it was obvious that the only thing they were interested in was winning, and their strategy has been to be 'not Bush.' Well, when at least half the population is at least moderately satisfied with him, that really doesn't leave you anywhere to go. It's a sad state of reality when the presented candidate might as well have the name 'instead of.'

I'm pissed I got 2 percent for Bush. What did I do wrong?
Lady, it doesn't surprise me you got a lean toward Kerry. It's illustrative of a problem moderate Republicans are facing this year. The platform and candidate have moved too far away from what many moderate Republicans believe.

What the HELL is economy and environment doing in the same sentence? I mean, really.
And Zola, I didn't really lean toward Kerry...my Bush #s were just not as strong as I would have liked them to be. My Kerry number was much less than my Bush number...but not 2% or anything!

Oy vey. Will I have to go into this again?
I am a Log Cabin Republican (fine, Jewish Nazi, you might understand that term since everyone loves it) and I support gay marriage. Many of my friends are gay. I do NOT support Margaret Cho's political views, but I liked that line, since I agree with that. Do I agree with her Bush-bashing? NO.
I support Bush with most of his political views. Except the gay marriage (and I am for arts funding as well).
If I am a contradiction if I find what a Democrat says funny, or if I support gay marriage, yet I still am conservative in numbers of ways, fine. Do you suggest that I stop watching Broadway shows- and maybe I'll just stop enjoying Avenue Q while I'm at it...I mean, really.

#22re: president match
Posted: 8/31/04 at 4:10pmI think Log Cabins are probably the WORST kind of Republicans there are....for exactly the wishy-washyness you mention. I have much more respect for someone who takes a REAL stand on WHATEVER they believe...not ride the fence.

Wow. Way to be rude.
Apparently taking a "real" stand means blindly following because I highly doubt most people agree with either party 100% of the time. You cant ignore points of disagreement. You have to work to change them.
Given that this country only has two viable parties (election-wise) it doesnt seem like LG has that many options to choose from! She probably feels that until there is a Log Cabin candidate capable of earning the votes to win an office, her vote is better off with the 1 or 2 parties she is most compatible with.

Really hun, and who would that be? You have no idea what you're talking about. The Log Cabin's are not a separate political party - they are republicans. And to identify yourself as gay AND republican is something that I, personally, cannot reconcile. And those who can justify both, at least the one's I'VE MET, are usually a little insane.
