Yes, nothing has changed at all.
"President Obama recently named Amanda Simpson to be a Senior Technical Advisor to the Commerce Department.
In a statement, Simpson, a member of the National Center for Transgender Equality's board of directors, said that "as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others."

Congratulations to Amanda Simpson.
This doesn't change Obama's lack of action on DOMA and DADT. He clearly thinks of the LGBT community as people to be hired, not as his equals.

yes, in a sad move that demonstrates all too clearly the inability of this administration to take a position and stick to it, the president named a person who cannot even decide what gender they are!

Posted: 1/4/10 at 5:02pmRoscoe, remember that DOMA and DATD are not executive orders but rather legislative ones. If they were to change, it would have to be voted upon by both houses and signed by the president. Obama himself, has no power to fix either one of these.

Posted: 1/4/10 at 5:49pmAs I posted somewhere else here, I am giving him until the end of this year to address these issues. I know these issues are important to the gay community but, in my opinion, the issues he is working on right now are a bit more important. We have come a long way in the gay community. I think we can wait a year. Especially if the man does what he promised. Now, after this year, if he doesn't move forward with these issues, I will be upset because these issues were part of the reasons I voted for him. Actually, I attended his acceptance speech at Mile High here in Denver and he won me over fully when he started speaking about gay rights.
