Problem With CCM

Just thought I'd share an interesting message I received. I guess this "student is one of the best examples of what CCM produces. As you can see, it's quite disguting. And what's worse is this "student" wanted me to share this with you. By the way..her screen name is "mixybitch". Ironic, huh!

And let me guess...you didn't get into CCM? If you answered yes to one or more of these characteristics then guess what? You're a bonified mediocre student who probably is at a school that you had to go to because you were not accepted to any decent schools.

All in all, I feel extremely sorry for you. And if you decide to post this to reveal the "attitudes, and the fatness of CCM "cookies" (which i just ate a lot of and guess what? I'm still skinny)" , I will be happy to defend this program and the fact that I am a proud student here at CCM.

So suck it.

Lets see if we see anything extraordinary happens to this person in the next 10 years. I mean out of all the kids that are in the department there...how many have actually became big names..what maybe 10 or so.

They really need to get over themselves...cause thats really harsh.

Umm I am a student at CCM and whoever sent that message is not like anyone here at CCM. I don't know of any students here that would say such harsh things about other people. I think that everyone needs to just calm down about CCM and the pople who get in and the people who don't get in need to just cool it. I am sick of logging in to broadwayworld and seeing crap being said about CCM.

CCM is a great school and yes not everyone from this program makes it big but most of them work. I'm sorry that CCM hasn't produced the tony award winners every year since 1949, but we do produce a hell of a lot of successful actors on broadway and in national tours and regional theatre. I mean if your goal is to be a broadway star then thats great, but attending CCM is not the key to becoming a broadway star. No one here at CCM expects to be a star on broadway, we hope and we bust our asses so that maybe we will get the opportunity to make it. CCM just makes sure when you get your big break you have the talent and training to back it up! Everyone here is very grateful that they were expected and we encourage the perspective students when they come to visit! We are not the snobby, bit chy, mean people everyone wants us to be.

So for people who want to come to CCM and feel that this is the place for you, don't read what these peole have to say about how bad CCM is and yah da yah d yah da. Come and see for yourself!!

This is a message board. People ask other people for opinions on a message board. I am happy to share my knowledge and opinions on this message board.

Do the math. Figure out what is going on here.

And, dear what, perhaps if you look through other postings, you'll see others who have chosen to share their opinions on this and other topics (including...shock..yourself!).

This PM I receive was not solicited. I did not ask for someone to PM me. Therefore, I have every right to make statements based on facts about a subject I know well of.

I think CCM is a good school and probably will give their kids a good education, but I'll never forget receiving their materials about auditions and in bold the words "Start losing weight now."

I mean, seriously. What the hell is that?

I have no qualms with the students, but that was just ridiculous.

Did I ever say that? No. I said my posts were in response to the threads you started for the sole reason to badmouth CCM. Have I ever started a thread saying "I love CCM!"? No, but you have posted numerous times about what a bad school CCM is. You're allowed to have your opinion, but why do this countless times? Many people on the board already know your stance on the school.

Perhaps CCM doesn't teach a reading course. So let me explain it to you in simple words.

My opinions. I post. If I have an opinion, I share opinion. I care less how many times. I care less if you like it or not.

No, I don't need to watch out, as I said, CCM is overrated. I knew someone who was terrible, she couldn't carry a note, tried out for AMDA, didn't even get in, she tried out for CCM and she gets in. They ARE overrated. While it may be a good school, it's overrated.

Let's see..cookies are filling but don't satisfy. They momentarily are good, but too many will make you sick.

And, of course, the cookie crumbles.

I'd rather go somewhere where they create more filling and lasting dishes.

I think there's a lot to be said in that CCM is #1 for undergraduate musical theatre in the country. Yes, they are very particular when it comes to appearance and weight. But you know what, it's only once every decade that a show like "Hairspray" comes out.

CCM rejected me for musical theatre. I quickly came to grips with the fact that I do not belong in the program. They have accepted people much worse than me before and denied people that are much better. Sometimes the best decisions can't be made based on a 5 minute audition. If you aren't accepted into there, all I can say is get over it and don't bother badmouthing the program because you probably can't even compare to three quarters of their students. If you think you can, then audition again.

This school puts out talented people with excellent technique. As was said before, not all of them become stars. But most of them work and all of them have agents before they leave, which is more than most colleges can say.

CCM is an excellent school. Somewhat arrogant but deservedly so. And some students, such as the one who messaged you, Tuttle, are too arrogant. But don't even begin to think use those few students are the typical people CCM put out.

Thanks for the post Necrom.

However, allow me to point out the little fact that CCM is NOT the Number One school for musical theater.

In a previous message, you'll see that there is no such ranking as "number one". Now, of course, when you talk to the arrogant CCM students and staff, they'll be the first to tell you this lie.

But after all, believing your own PR is half the battle.

Well aside from the teribbly hurtful message, I am most disturbed by the lack of grammar displayed in that post. "I have managed to GLEAM." Jeez.
