I just watched the full interview online. I think maybe she was a little too defensive at times about him going after the leftist media, and I think maybe he was a titch disingenuous about his role in everything. All in all, I found it worth watching.
I'm curious what you thought, madbrian. You're always much more astute than I about things like this.
I definitely think Jon does need to come to terms with TDS' influence despite what he personally thinks (and I am not even sure TDS alums and current staff would agree with him). Also his persona during the Bush years is suddenly a lot more interesting to look back on, considering what he said of that era and presidency during the interview.
Rachel seemed too defensive, nervous, and perhaps over-prepared but I think Stewart was, to a fault, talking in a very stream of conscience way and maybe not as prepared.
That said, I could not turn away from watching it.
I couldn't quite believe Lawrence O'Donnell then had Rachel on HIS show to talk about her interview with Stewart. Usually I have to go to a New York Jacks party to observe a circle jerk of such epic proportions.
MSNBC is definitely milking this. I wouldn't be surprised if their entire primetime lineup will devote at least half of their shows to talking about the interview. Or, it will just be another lockup marathon.
