I have got to give major props to Melissa Etheridge whom I just saw on TV tonight on the Red Carpet on E! She was there being interviewed by Star Jones - BALD! She is done with her chemo treatments and looking healthy. I have to give her lots of credit for opting against a wig. GOOD FOR HER!
Go Melissa! (and get better too!)
I had no clue Melissa was sick!! wow, I'm out of the loop
don't worry RENT, I had no idea either.
Huge props to Melissa E!
Here's a letter she posted on her fan site.
Letter from Melissa
Love Melissa Etheridge. Was listening to her on the radio yesterday. Amazing woman, bless her.
I am not as big of a fan as my partner is, but I have to say, I was very impressed with Melissa's stage presence and performance during the Janis Joplin tribute tonight. No offense to any Joss Stone fans, but in my personal opinion, Joss should have not shared the stage for this piece. Her voice is VERY different than Melissa's and not "hard" enough for Janis songs. Melissa's voice was a perfect fit for a Joplin tribute. Oh well.
Ms Etheridge was outrageous!

We gave up on the Grammy's YEARS ago - but reading the recaps in the news made me wish I had seen this part anyway. Good luck to her - she deserves to be well, and the world is a better place with her in it.
It was indeed a BEAUTIFUL thing she did. On so many levels. I bet she made millions of women who have dealt with cancer proud--maybe even feel stronger.
And that performance was fierce.
I had known Melissa Etheridge battled cancer last year but it was still amazing to see her walking out on stage as ballsy as ever and as beautiful as ever. I've heard her sing that Janis song live in concert before but tonight she seemed even more into it. For me, that was the performance of the night!

I'm hoping there will be some video clip of it somewhere, sometime.
DGrant, try this link. They have a video of the performance up already!

When my friend Marjorie Gross had cancer she never wore a wig. Well, except for the multi colour clown one...
She said the bald head was real good to get u bumped up to the head of a line!
Melissa looked beautiful!
Brava!
Melissa sang the heck out of "Piece of My Heart". It was one of the highlights of the evening! Janis would have been proud.
