And before we return to the topic of what Jesus really said or meant, ask 7 office mates to play a quick game of telephone. See how they mangle "The left handed iguana ran numbly up a persimmon tree before beheading the obtuse orangutan." Now imagine they have to periodically translate it into Greek or Hebrew. And oh yeah, the "telephone" game needs to go on for a couple thousand years.

But I thought you said churches do good works and help people just to be good- that it wsan't an attempt to convert savages? Now you say it is and it's a good thing. Which is it Sue?
i mean really, are you going to be so nitpicky? lets not forget when we say churches, we mean the people, and these people are helping and people take their life experiences with them. the missionaries who helped settle the new world really thought they were helping the natives by taking them from worshiping a gazillion gods and sacrificing their own to worshiping the one true god in their mind.

My pleasure, Javero. It's not completely accurate or that simple as I believe the entire concept of "Christian charity" is a complex one. But it's pretty true.... There is the good, there is the bad, and there is the motive and intentions. That's where it gets complicated.
