I saw on tv yesterday that Tarantino is considering writing and directing the next Friday the 13th movie. What does everyone think of this?

I hope he films "Insidious Bastards" first.

Well, he certainly knows how to film gore. Not that I could be bothered to see KBillV2 after seeing the first one. I mean, I felt like an actor. "What's my motivation?"

I think he could redeem the Friday the 13th series. F'rinstance, he could just tell the basic first story, make it like a remake of the very first film. Make it much darker, make Jason more of a victim, and make the teens get killed for ANY reason other than that they had sex. Make the original kids who let Jason drown be liars or something and then have Jason go after teens who lie. Just NOT the punishment for sex thing, although that is so right up Quentin's alley, played out though it may be.

Namo, go rent vol 2. It really suprised me. The second half of Kill Bill is much more emotional and explores more of the Bride's story rather than just being a gorefest. I confess to being rather teary in the end.

Friday the Thirteenth? No idea, I'd have to see one of the movies first. I am suprised that Tarantino isn't doing his own thing, though.

Hmmmm. Last I heard he was trying to get Uma to do another KILL BILL film. I'm personally not a fan of the Friday the 13th series. The first one scared the piss out of me, but every other one after that was just a remake of the one before. I'm much more of a NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET fan and wouldn't mind seeing Tarantino take a crack at a Freddy flick.

Even after Freddy Vs. Jason essentially killed both franchises?

For those who were turned off by "Vol. 1", rent "Vol. 2". As insomniak, it was much deeper and featured some of Tarantino's best dialogue. Thurman, Carradine, and Hannah give the performances of their careers in this.

I'm excited to see what comes out of this. It might be the first "Friday the 13th" since the original that is actually worth watching.

I'll probably skip it. Tarantino is mostly hit or miss with me and he'll probably see this as another opportunity for a gore-filled dark comedy rather than a respectable tribute to a horror classic. I hated Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado, Reservoir Dogs and his segment in Four Rooms. But I did like Jackie Brown, True Romance and Natural Born Killers. Nothing has motivated me to see Kill Bill.

I remember when people were raving about Kill Bill and I said I was going to skip part two, that the same people who were raving about part one would say, "Oh, I know what you mean, it wasn't that good but part two is so much better." Part one was pretty to look at. Part two, I feel as if I know what was going to happen so I don't have an reason to see the second.

I still would recommend seeing "Vol. 2". In any case, both "Kill Bills" were complex in their story and characters. Especially the second one. I'm surprised no one sees that. Oh, well.

I think this was a very underrated movie (putting them into one volume) last year. Uma was magnificent and Darryl Hannah should only play this type of role. She was glorious.
I think very few people out there have the imagination that Tarantino has and I would personally line up to see his take on Rainbow Brite (actually, now that would rock. The Rainbow Brite team as assassins?).
How's this, though? Tarantino teaming up on a film with Charlie Kaufman?

Did I miss the memo that 'Friday the 13th' is a horror classic?

I mean, it's certainly notorious but, let's be honest folks, it's a crap in the ocean of great horror.

And Tarantino notoriously has 1000 different 'next projects' he talks about before he makes a new movie.

Actually, Friday the 13th is a "classic" as are many other dated horror films that are famous, watched by millions and known by title alone. It created iconic imagery of a man in a jumpsuit and hockey mask or the whispering sound, "tsh tsh tsh hah hah hah". It spawned ten sequels over 23 years. It can be found in virtually every list of famous horror films that span through the 80s. I would say that it is indeed considered a classic whether personally liked or not.

I remember it being quite the shocker when it premiered.

LOOOVED the Kill Bills....actually, I heard he had a war opus in the making....hmmmm. Also heard he may give up filmmaking and open his own movie theater, showing the obscure stuff that he loves...like the glorious, incomperable SWITCHBLADE SISTERS, which was released on his short-lived Rolling Thunder production tagline.

If only 'Friday the 13th' ACTUALLY HAD A GUY IN A HOCKEY MASK!!

It's not until the third one that that image comes into play.

Remaking the movie 'Friday the 13th' is about a mad mother killing camp counselors.

If they get to a sequel, they can put a pillow case on his head.

Also, Michael Myers introduced us to the hockey mask in the actual horror classic, John Carpenter's Halloween.

The mask in "Halloween" (a masterpiece, IMHO) is a Michael Shatner mask, painted white.

re: Quenten Tarantino's next film

Actually, Michael Myers wore a white mask in the shape of a human face, not a hockey mask.

But I do stand corrected that the hockey mask did not come into play until the third Friday the 13th film.

Actually Michael Myers's mask was a William Shatner mask with the eyes cut out and painted white.

I loved both Kill Bill movies. The second one had some amazing dialogue in it. The superman speach at the end is classic Tarantino. I would be interested in what he would do with Friday the 13th

I didn't like the gore in the Kill Bill movies, but the soundtrack was excellent, very eclectic and it fitted with all the different moods. Any opinions on that?

1.) Both KILL BILL movies are beyond great
2.) Jason Vorhees is nothing but a Michael Myers ripp off
3.) I agree with Matt that he should tackle Freddy instead of Jason. I think his skills as a director and writer would work better with the dream sequences in the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies. Man, that would rock.
4.) Jason needs to die and stay dead.
