I want to go to an awards ceremony where my employer is up for an award. The invite says Business Attire. I have a horrible time finding clothes my size, so this has been a challenge. Anyt thoughts on this? Does business attire indicate a suit/sport coat? Or does it also include only a shirt and tie? I really don't want to go and be under-dressed.
I would wear a sports jacket and a tie. I think you're always safe with that and plus it's professional.
To me, 'business attire' means jacket & tie. With 'business casual', you could get awat with chinos and a sports jacket.
I'm not a guy, but I agree with them....if I were you I'd wear either a suit or a sportcoat and tie with dress pants.
Agree with all the above. And don't do the jacket-and-no-tie thing.

Business attire to me says "suit" and the accompanying medium-high drag: tie, black shoes, dress shirt. Ugh.
I don't own a suit, but I do have a low end Armani black sports jacket that I got at a rummage sale for $5 and black slacks that came from The Gap or someplace and they sort of match. I have worn them to mandatory dress-up events like funerals and gotten away with it.
Short of a tux, business means more-is-more.
Whenever I do put on this get-up, I make sure to wear festive underwear just to remind myself who I am.

When it comes to information, sometimes less-is-better.
At least he didn't say he goes commando.
A well cut suit can be so fetching.
No loose sleeves please.
