I know this question has probably been asked many times but I am asking again. For those of you who have done standing room for the Met what is the ticket buying process usually like? Should I plan on getting there early to make sure I get tickets? I am looking at a Friday show.
Thanks.
You can also get them over the phone and online.
ETA- How early you need to arrive is really dependent on whatever is on that night.

Yeah, I saw that but for some reason I guess I didn't believe it. Thanks.
One more question. How is it? How is the view? If there a translation screen near the standing spot?
There is a Met Titles screen in front of every SRO spot. This goes for the orchestra as well as the Family Circle.
When it comes to standing, I would prefer the Family Circle, yes, you're higher up. However, when your doing SRO in the orchestra there is a very big overhang in your way that gives you a pretty obstructed view.
Also, the sound is much better up there than in the back of the orchestra. Just bring binoculars.
As the two previous posters said it's a tradeoff between view and sound quality. The sound in the back of the orchestra is somewhat muted by the parterre overhang and you might miss the top part of the set. On the FC the sound is much better but if you're watching a show like Turandot that has a really deep set you're going to miss the back half of it because the steep angle.
