Fidelity may well have a feed that can be uploaded directly to turbo tax. The distribution/interest payments will be aggregated together, and reported. There should also be indications of a purchase or sale of a stock/fund/bond etc.
The ideal situation is if they can just import all of the relevant data directly into turbo tax, without you manually having to input it.
Here is the link for Fidelity that discusses this option.
Good luck.
Importing Data
I pay $75 to a firm in North Jersey. I just overnight the stuff to them and they do it all.
YWIW, you've been a great help to me, thank you for going out of your way.
I just did the turbo tax and finished but it seems to be stuck on update for around 20 minutes. Is it supposed to do this?
I never do it online, so I can't tell you. I always buy the software, run the updates (which can take some time, depending on how many forms need to be updated), and then start filling in info.
If there is a task bar showing progress and it continues to move, I would just hold tight.
(It may also depend on the speed of the connection).
That's what I thought, but I went ahead and clicked on the next task two times to speed it along. . oy. Maybe it takes so much time because lots of people are filing. I'll just wait.
Thanks, YWIW
I have to do the whole thing over, which took me more than 2 hrs!
You were using the online tool? Because with laptop version, you can save the work.
For some lucky reason, I quit my desk top procedure, logged on with my laptop, and was able to continue from where I left off. Now I'm having trouble printing the return, but everything with me gets screwed up so I'm used to this!
