I have an audition on Monday but am currently battling Acid Reflux with INTENSE mucus in my throat. I was planning on doing the more "fierce" 16 bars of my ballad, but my upper register is inconsitently fuzzy and mucusy, which the first 16 bars sound fine, though only reach an E. Is it better to play it safe and sing the easier 16 bars, or do you think the schools will understand a Fuzzy register with the stress levels being so high and the weather?
Thanks!

I would go with whatever makes you sound best. Depending on who/what you're auditioning for, they might not care that you aren't well (however insensitive it may be). Its kinda like, would you rather give them the E that may or may not sound good, or give them the lower notes that are rockin? I dont' know about you, but I get goosebumps for a nice, rich, low sound.
Just something to consider.

Running, experiment before the audition by taking some cough medicine, the kind that is guaifenesin NOT dextromethorphan. Read the label carefully! The guaifenesin will promote secondary mucosal secretion in the respiratory system. Secondary mucous is the thinner, lubricating mucus that occurs on the vocal folds naturally when they are healthy and well hydrated.
My daughter has auditions this weekend and she'll be taking it, too.
GOOD LUCK!
