i think i might.
but i'd be walking away from a dean's list.
walking away from a nearly straight A average.
walking away from like a million friends.
but i just don't deserve any of it.
I wish. But after interning with two major theater companies this summer, I see that you REALLY DO need a B.A. of some sort to get a job in Theater. BOO!
I have a close friend who quit school, and he now works a nine to five job in an office, wears a suit everyday, takes a train to work, and has to put off doing what he really loves doing.

Don't COMPLETELY quit because you will probably highly regret it. I withdrew from the school I was attending and am finding it RIDICULOUSLY hard to trasnfer -- the financial aid is sooooo much worse -- and I walked away in about the same situation you are. Great grades, dean's list, friends, etc.
If you are thinking that you don't like your school/school in general, take a leave of absence. It can be a semester or a year (I would suggest telling them it will be a semester first and then extending it to a year if you want). You might realize how much you really miss everything.

If you don't like your school, why don't you just transfer to a different one?

I've wanted to since the first week, but I guess that's bound to happen when you're doing something you don't like at all. Kind of wishing I took this semester off.
That's what I did actually. I just took some time to myself and then I was back at school within a semester. I seriously regret entering college right after high school. It created more problems than solved them.
I spent my whole life working towards the impossible. And no, I dont think theatre is impossible because of the type of industry it is. Its impossible for me because I am (though fairly minorly) disabled. None of the theatre schools I applied for (virtually everything from Canada to Europe) would accept me. Ive come to terms with this fact, and it doesnt really hurt anymore. My problem is I only have one skill set, and dont really want/know how to do anything beyond musical theatre.
So. I never went to school because I was never given the opportunity. Something I would die for.
