I thought of another game we could play, since these game posts are so popular right now.
You state a quote from a musical (song or book) and give the origin of the quote from the previous post.
So if I post "Everything's coming up roses,"
then the next person posts "Gypsy" and gives a new quote from another musical.
So, starting off easy...
"You may one day
Look around and say
Somebody wonderful married me"
I'm stumped
Cabaret!!!
This game could be difficult!!!
Jeannie's packing up
Jeannie's moving out
Bridge of Doom!!!

Brigadoon
"The atmosphere's becoming heady,
The ambiance thrilling,
The spirit unsteady,
The flesh far too willing."
redhot, i have no idea...

While we'd all love to be Gay, I'm just Vicious.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
And it's not Willy Wonka, though that certainly is My Fair Lady.
Vicious... i'm sorry... don't know why i called you sueleen, except that i'm reading multiple posts and icantseemtokeepthemallstraightinmyheadand... AUUUGHHHHH!!!!!
Easy - My Fair Lady.
Viscious - I have No idea - but it sounds strangely sondheimesque...
If you can find me I'm Here!

"Bowing down, he murmurs good day,
Her eyes aglow, she bids him stay."

Matt, you are my new favourite person for knowing Romance/Romance.
is it OK to do one from a straight play?
"Sometimes there's God, so quickly!"
I have driven myself crazy trying to recall the source of Mr. Matt's lyric. Perhaps a clue?
Mister Matt's lyric is from "Everybody's Gotta Be Somewhere" from City of Angels.
Here's one of my favorites...
"Switched from blouses into sweaters/using my attention getters..."
I LOVE Romance/Romance! It's a very sweet show. "Romantic Notions" is one of my favorite songs.
"Switched from blouses into sweaters/using my attention getters..."
Karen Walker?
A hint: it's performed by a one-time Hot Lips Houlihan.
Is it from a show, Magruder?
Cause all I can think of is either BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY's or MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD (though they'd say 'jumpers' not 'sweaters', right?)
Robbie -
You got it. "My Nice Ways" from BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S (which also features another favorite lyric: "I once took such pride in my nice ways/I looked for approval/Thrived on praise/I once got tipsy on mayonnaise...")
Take it from here, RobbieJ!
'La Famille that slays together/
Is the one that stays together'/
Is a way of life that simply has to stop/
STOP!
"Why Can't We All Be Nice?" from Goodtime Charley
How about:
"Something 'bout a lad who's ill at ease
Sells those railroads and utilities"
you guys are way too good for me....
