OK, today's the first day of RCN digital conversion. Working pretty good so far. I like the remote control except some of the tiny buttons, and the fact that it's not backlit. Otherwise everything's working great. Wondering how many of you "delete" most of the hundreds of stations? How many "faves"? Me, about 20 on my "fave" list.

Whats an RCN?
bump. (edited thread).
Ours starts here in Colorado in Feb. It is sounding like you need a box and remote there(?) We have Comcast cable here. All cable is underground. If we have cable, we are fine. We don't need to do anythig for the switch. You only need the converter box if you have an antenna.
Uncageg - I had basic RCN) cable without a box, however, with this digital conversion, you need a box. I live in a high rise that's wired for RCN and Time Warner, since those are the majority of users. This was done a couple of yrs. ago. Good luck everyone.
What is RCN?
it's a cable co., like comcast, etc.
Gotcha. We don't have them out here. Comcast is our main provider (Outside of the sattelite ones) AT&T used to be but after they laid down all of the underground cable, Comcast bought them out and took over. People in the mountains have different providers that I think feed from Comcast. Not sure how it works. So is it just NY that started today or did other states back East start today?
I have no idea, uncageg, about conversion outside of this co. and nyc...all i know is that feb 17 is the deadline, which has been advertised thru psa's for most of this year. i guess each cable co. decides when to convert... the only thing i dislike is that now i have to get used to all the new #s for my favorite channels, i.e. CNN used to be 46, now it's 313. And the new remote control is HUge, w/too many buttons.
Hard for me to comment since I've had digital for about a year now in my NYC apt...
