Michael Keaton is really Michael Douglas (already taken).
Buster Keaton's last name really was Keaton.

Michael J. Fox couldn't be Michael Fox because there already was one. He didn't want to use his real middle initial "A", becuase he feared folks would joke "Michael - A Fox!" He got the "J" from one of his idols, character actor Michael J. Pollard (the original Hugo in Bye Bye Birdie).

Shelley Winters was Shirley Shrift, George Burns was Nathan Birnbaum, Jack Benny was Benny Kubelinsky, Irving Berlin was Israel Baline, Woody Allen was Alan Konigsberg, Beverly Sills was Beverly Silverman. Interesting note about Linda Lovelace: She was married to one of my next door neighbors from the Marciano family in Bellport, New York. We used to see her all the time. It was a very small town and people really used to talk about it.
