Posted: 7/7/14 at 10:11amYes, REBECCA is certainly as Gothic as all get-out, and that usually involves a rather passive heroine, of course. There's just something about "I" in Hitchcock/Selznick's film of REBECCA, and the way the story is handled, that has me thinking "Why doesn't she just fire that Danvers bitch already?" in ways that I never thought it while reading the book.
