Jesus. A film that goes farther that most others in positively portraying same sex relationships but is homophobic because it doesn't do it well enough? You're just looking for trouble where none exists, and are looking like an ass in the process.
Don't be silly iflit. Art2 has been vindicated and Anthony should be ashamed. I think we can all learn a valuable lesson from his tireless protests on how selective homophobia can ruin a movie.
/sarcasm.
Elphaba - where would the fun be in that then?
An informed opinion from Art2? Nah, he would rather get everyone all riled up and angry over comments that are clearly intended to incite and not based upon facts and objectivity.
Personally, I think he works for Bush administration and slings crap for a living. That, or he just gets off on pissing folks off - which could also mean that he works for Shrub.
It is too bad that Art2 is so over zealous in his opinions, because his base argument about the representations of gay male love in the media has some merit. Just not with this film.
Have a great weekend.

I read the first two pages of this thread and I can't read it anymore. I haven't read anything so ludicrous in my life. Art, you are so far off base here I can't even tell you. I can't even bother to argue about this right now.
Hypothetical question: If an art2 feels personally vindicated on a Broadway message board, does anybody care?
Hey art2, finding a person in the world that shares your point of view is not vindication, it is merely the law of averages. Even more than one person admitted to liking Good Vibrations. Finding a majority of experts that agree with your point of view would be vindication.
Blah blah blah...geeez, why must we fuel this flame? Art, obviously nothing you could say will alter our thoughts on this. Keep on posting, I'll sit back and keep on laughing along with the rest of the world.

Can you really claim to be "changing the subject" when you resurrect something that hasn't been active for almost a week?
What I haven't been able to figure out is, who give a fu*k if Art2 has been vindicated, or if RENT is homophobic? I know I don't.
Apparently we are also supposed to believe they were "lurking" ever since then as well.

jesus christ, just let this thread die, like it deserves to. It's a stupid thread, started by a stupid person, about a stupid falsehood, in a stupid movie.
If I were to lurk, it would definately be over something much more interesting than Art and his theories!
But Penguin love, now that is something work lurking for!
BTW - Art was not vindicated, as the movie was not selectively homophobic. The only realy shame was the marginal film actually put out by Sony and Columbus.
Hey guys, (Oh, free internet from the hotel!)
FArt2 hasn't posted here in a while, why don't we let this thread die.
I saw the movie and was cryed all the way thru it. Sure, it's a clunky script, but it remains true to the original, and doesn't hide it's gayness at all.
FArt2 has not been vindicated at all (except in his tiny little mind).
Let's go back to talking about food.
I love IHop when the hotel food sucks.
I am munching on some Puffins Cinnamon breakfast cereal for some strange reason.
Crunchy yet sweet.

I have spent the bulk of the evening cooking. I made white chocolate-cranberry-oatmeal cookies, chocolate-caramel-pecan tollhouse cookies, cranberry-pistachio biscotti, and at my best friend's husband's request, rice crispy treats, dipped in peanut butter then in chocolate on a stick! I am Betty-freakin-Crocker!!! I am mailing some home. Anyone want me to send you some?
