Very sorry to hear this. He seemed to appear in so many movies throughout the 80s and 90s especially. May he rest in peace.
James Rebhorn, Prolific and Spectacular Character Actor, Dead at 65
Very sad news. I always loved seeing him.
What a pity! He was a wonderful actor. RIP.

If anyone sees a report with the cause of death, please post it. No cause of death has been released yet, and his death is an unexpected one. He is only 65 years old and I had the immense pleasure of seeing him on Roundabout's stage this past fall. Seemed to be in fine health.

If anyone sees a report with the cause of death, please post it.
But please don't post any rumors of the cause of death. When the family is ready to release it, they will release it. Until then, we don't need to know.

And please do not follow me around on this Board just to be a smartass. Surely you have better things to do with your life....
Who says he's following you around the board?
He just said not to post rumors.
You really need to chill.
TMZ is reporting he died of skin cancer. Has had it since 1992 but dramatically worsened recently. Such a shame. Such a terrific actor.
Melanoma.
VERY serious disease. I lost a dear college friend, when he was in his early 40s, to melanoma.
Sad news about James Rebhorn, a talented actor. RIP.

He was one of those great character actors who worked consistently in film, television and on the stage for over 30 years. Most people, including myself, never remembered his name but always remembered his performances (Homeland, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Lorenzo's Oil, etc.). I remember seeing him on stage in DINNER AT EIGHT (LCT) and TWELVE ANGRY MEN (Roundabout).
What a classy guy. He wrote his own obituary and it is a fantastic read.

His obituary was beautiful, and I will dearly miss him; he was always an actor I looked forward to seeing, since he was rarely if ever billed in advertisements, so his work flew under many's radar. But his career was a true success in the most flattering form I can think for an actor: I cannot recall him ever playing a false moment in any film I saw him in.
