RIP Joan Fontaine

Several people thought it was a hoax given that Peter O'Toole and Tom Laughlin were reported to have died earlier in the day, but reporters from The Hollywood Reporter confirm an earlier report.

Anyway, RIP to a legend.

And I thought we were finally gonna get a year without an Oscar-winner dying. Just two weeks to go. It's like getting tackled at the one yard line.

I suppose Olivia got the last laugh.

"I suppose Olivia got the last laugh."

I don't usually bother taking issue with stuff on the internet but for the love of fvck.

Rest in peace, lovely lady.
I know you. I know you. I know you.

RIP Joan Fontaine

The last star of "The Women" to pass on.

And so great in "Rebecca" in a truly difficult role to pull off (as I said on the main board, if you doubt it, take a look at all the other screen tests for "I" and you'll see why Joan got the part).

I saw The Lady in a stock package of Dial M For Murder in 1972 or 1973 in Guilford, NH. She was way too old for the role, but worked it anyway.

RIP Joan Fontaine

From film critic Carrie Rickey.

"Famous for their talent and radiant beauty, the sisters were infamous for a longstanding feud that de Havilland declined to confirm and Fontaine liked to talk about. She once explained the feud was due to her getting married first, winning an Oscar nomination and an Oscar before her sister did. When she and her sister were children, Fontaine wrote a will that read, “I bequeath my beauty to my sister, because she has none.” A reliable source tells me that during the last few years the sisters were speaking.)"
